As much as I dislike leaving negative reviews because I know times are tough right now and people are trying to make ends meet, I feel the need to share my experience with Sarena so that others don't have a similar experience with their pups. Sarena stayed with my pup right before the Christmas holiday, which I greatly appreciate. She also came over for a meet-up prior to the sit, was always very responsive to my messages before and during the sit, and cleaned up the house at the end of her sit. Those are all great things, and I want to be clear that they happened. However, those great things can't outweigh the fact that of the 9 nights she housesit my dog, she didn't take my dog out for 16+ hours at a time on 4 separate occasions. During one of those four times, my dog was left alone and without a potty break for 21 hours. I find this completely unacceptable and neglectful. I made clear to her before the sit that my dog needed to be let out every 8-10 hours max. When I returned home; my neighbor voiced some concerns to me, and my dog seemed quite stressed and upset (which is uncommon for him). At that point, I reviewed my Ring doorbell footage, which accurately records anytime someone comes or leaves from my house. Essentially, anytime Sarena took out my dog for a bathroom break, it would have registered on the app. It was then that I realized how often Atlas had been left alone and without a potty break throughout the stay. I admittedly should have checked my Ring footage throughout the sit, but I have always had wonderful Rover sitters who provided daily and frequent updates, and have never had a need to. Lesson learned moving forward! When I reached out to Sarena about this and requested a partial refund for the sit (since my dogs basic needs certainly weren't met), she didn't reply to my message--not even with an apology. I do NOT recommend that you use Sarena for any of your pet-sitting needs. While my dog can comfortably go 8-10 hours without a potty break and therefore probably handled the ridiculously long hours without a break better than most, no dog should be subjected to this. And if for any reason Sarena was unable to care for my dog as we agreed upon (with potty breaks every 8-10 hours). that should have been communicated to me immediately so I could find an alternative option. It was not.
