Dog Care in West Village
Pet care experience
I currently volunteer at Animal Haven in Soho where I handle and care for all dogs, puppies to senior animals. The dogs have varying conditions and personalities that make me very versatile and comfortable with all dogs! I volunteer for 4 hours a week - I love spending free time with animals. I grew up with 2 dogs as well, a lab and a morkie.

Skills
Safety, trust & environment
I prefer to walk dogs on the West Side Highway, away from cars and bikes. I think it’s important for dogs to be near grass and be in touch with nature, just like it is important for humans.
Information Sarah Y. would like to know about your pet
If they get along well with other animals, what types of environments scare them, which make them feel safest. also what type of treats they like!
A typical day
I enjoy the mental stimulation games for dogs- like wrapping treats in a spiraled towel and having them figure out how to get the treats out. I also think physical touch, like petting and cuddles, is very important to keeping a dog happy and feeling safe. I also love to exercise, so taking the dog for walks in the cozy parts of the west village and west side highway is a fun task!

Availability
I have a full time job, but have reached a point in my life where I am prioritizing fitting animals into my day to day. I realized how much I was missing by not taking time out of my day to spend with dogs. I am big into exercise and am an early riser so can incorporate walks/check ins before work 6-8 am and then also after work 6:30-9:30 pm. I am also around Friday and/or Saturday nights to house sit and am available for longer stays as well.
