Pet care experience

I’ve been caring for pets on Rover for the last two years and recently transitioned to working full-time as a pet care provider while also returning to school! I have experience with drop-in care, walks, boarding, and doggy day care. My wife and I are currently parents to five of the sweetest felines and recently began to foster with Paws. We have cared for pregnant cats, assisted with the birthing process, and frequently care for sick kittens and mothers. I also tend to an aquarium, a small vegetable patch in the summer, and lots of houseplants. For pet parents new to Rover: Welcome and thank you for checking out my profile! After you send me the initial message, I will do my best to respond within a couple hours. We will then chat about your needs and if I’m available to complete the sit. We can then set up a Meet & Greet where you and your pet(s) can meet me (these will occur in your home). If we are both comfortable at this point, we’ll then confirm the booking. On the day(s) of the sit, I will send you updates via a Rover Card in the app. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me! During our Meet & Greet, we’ll go over all your pet’s care needs and I’ll meet your fur baby so we’re acquainted while they feel comfortable with you home. During a drop-in, I’ll complete the tasks we discussed, show your nugget lots of love, and send written updates and photos through the app. Additional notes: - I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19. -It’s not uncommon for cats to be shy and not want to interact with me, leaving me just sitting and doing little during drop-ins. If you’d like, we can adjust the time I spend in your home and discount my service fee. I’m also open to doing some additional chores that may reduce your stress when you come home such as sweeping or getting the mail. - For drop ins that are more than 4 miles from my home, I charge an additional $2/mile. The distance is based on a Google map route from my home to yours. The distance shown on Rover is based only on a radius and straight shot between us, not accounting for the actual mileage on the road. I look forward to hearing from you!

Sarah is always great. She takes good care of my babies, including finding cute and clever ways to hide treats for them. I can travel easy knowing that my kitty babies are well cared for in my absence. Thanks, Sarah!

Sarah was an amazing sitter for our cat. She is a great communicator and we could tell she truly cared for Ada. Gave us tremendous peace of mind while we were away. Thanks so much, Sarah!

Sarah was wonderful with my super energetic puppy and large puppy who isn’t good with loose leash walking. She was very patient with him, always came on time, rain, shine, or snow. I could tell that my puppy began to adore her very quickly as he would sit by the gate and look in the direction where she always came from even on the days when he wasn’t scheduled for a walk with her. I highly recommend her and would hire her again in a heartbeat.

Sarah is absolutely the best! I never worry about my girls when she is caring for them. She treats them like family, and sends me updates and photos for every visit. Highly recommend!

I am very careful upon entering your home as many cats are escape artists. All door codes/keys are kept with me and not shared. When walking dogs, I always use a leash and harness (when provided); off-leash walks will not occur to keep everyone as safe, and close, as possible. I also pay close attention to gates and fences to keep your fur babies secure in your yard.

Information Sarah W. would like to know about your pet

During our Meet & Greet, we will discuss any allergies, medications, mobility restrictions, harnesses for walks, friendliness toward other animals (though I always steer clear or other animals when outside to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort), and tolerance for small children (I also coach approaching kiddos through appropriate greetings to avoid anyone getting spooked- if your pup is child friendly). I always request written instructions to be left out while you're gone or detailed care notes in the Rover app. Please think about how you'd like me to access your home while you're away- do you have a spare key to hand-off during the M&G? Do you have a lockbox you can keep outside? Is there a door or garage code set up for guests? Having this plan in place helps for a smooth transition :)

A typical day

During a typical drop-in with… Pups: I take them outside for a quick bathroom break, prepare any meal/meds they need for the visit, and then we set out for our exercise activity. I will always check in about your dog’s physical abilities and if there is anything to pay special attention to while we’re moving and grooving (senior dogs with mobility restrictions, reactivity toward people/pets outside, etc.). We typically explore your neighborhood, so my pals are in a familiar area and as comfortable as possible. Playing in your yard, brushing, long talks about the importance of hydration, and floor lounging are also common activities I embark on depending on what your fur babe prefers. Updates and photos are sent during every drop-in. If we have a walk scheduled, you will receive a map of our adventure with your Rover card. I will follow your pup's lead on pacing as sniffing can be just as enriching as physical exercise. If needed, we can discuss additional enrichment activities to include on their walk. Options include kibble hunting in the grass for a sniffing outlet, offering a Kong at the end of the visit, or if your pup has learned basic commands, we can also work on those. While I am not a professional trainer, I do enjoy working with my friends on leash manners and reviewing their known commands. Feline friends: For friends that are door greeters, we’ll meet at the door and gab about our days while they enjoy head and back scratches. Chins and bellies if they are particularly adventurous. I prepare meals/meds as discussed and refresh water bowls/litter boxes. Some cats can be pretty shy so I’ll try to gently invite them out for company, offering a treat, toy, or promise of an ear scratch. Your kitty and I can share pets or play as they like in the visit. Updates and photos are sent during every drop-in.

I am currently attending school full-time at Everett Community College in a fully remote program. This leaves my daily schedule fairly flexible! **Please note that my current midday schedule for lunchtime drop-ins (11am-2pm) is near capacity. I will do my best to accommodate requests but please be aware that this is a very popular timeframe!
