Pet care experience
I have always been around dogs and I love them! 4 years ago specifically my best friend/roommate at the time rescued a dog. Since then I had been someone she relied on to take care of her pup while she was working in person and I was working from home, and I also took care of her pup when she needed to go out of town. We lived together for 2 years. I have experience with basically any aspect of dog care because of this. Her pup had a lot of learning to do as she was on the street and then in a high-kill shelter before being rescued and I therefore learned a lot about training I don’t think I would have otherwise (including how to properly walk dogs who use prong collars if needed!). After I moved I was thrilled to find another roommate with a dog, and she relied on me for the past 2 years to take care of her dog when she has been traveling for 1-2 weeks at a time or working nights. Her pup is very very high energy so I definitely have the energy and patience to care for a dog who needs some extra attention!

My top priority when taking care of someone else’s dog is for the dog to be happy, healthy, and safe. When walking or dog sitting I make sure to follow what the dog’s owner’s preferences are. For example I am ok if a dog wants to sit on the couch but if that is not generally allowed in another person’s house then I make sure to adhere to that. I am comfortable taking care of reactive dogs as well, and would make sure to never put them in a situation where they may not be safe. Again, I am dedicated to following the routine and rules that you have with your dog.
Information Sarah T. would like to know about your pet
If your dog is particularly high energy or still working on key elements of training (potty training, sit/down/stay) I would like to know that ahead of time so I can be ready for it. Also, if your dog is reactive towards other dogs that will be helpful to know. If they have a strong drive to chase after stray cats/animals/birds please let me know. Any other important or unique information about their behavior would be appreciated.
A typical day
I love to do a variety of activities with dogs outside of just going for a walk. We can play games, work on practicing training, check out nearby parks, or even get out on a trail for a hike if you would like!

Availability
I am currently working a hybrid schedule and only have to go into the office ~2days per week - usually Tuesdays and Thursdays . Because of this, my work schedule is very flexible and I can always do my absolute best to fit your pup into my schedule. I can also be available on most weekends as long as there is enough prior notice.
