Professional Trainer & Caregiver!
Pet care experience
Hi! My name is Sarah and I'm a Professional Dog Trainer. I've been training professionally for a few years now and have been caring for pets for much longer. Part of being a professional trainer is having extensive knowledge of animal behavior and health, and I have both of those things. Growing up, I had always wanted to be a veterinarian, and after working in a vet clinic for about a year I realized that as much as I like being able to help sick animals in need, I really love being able to work with animals more. Any quality trainer knows that you have to get to know each individual dog that you work with in order to benefit them and I think that's what sets me apart from other trainers and sitters. If anyone is looking for dog training, please reach out to me and we can set up a consultation! I offer private lessons, board & train, behavior modification, service dog training, trailing, and puppy classes.

I am currently in the process of building a small kennel into the barn on my property. This kennel will be for dogs I board as well as dog's I board and train for my business. It will have 4 decent sized runs that allows room for larger dogs to move around in rather than being crated, or for anyone that has multiple dogs they would like to board in the same kennel. This is not necessarily "in-home" as this will be a separate building from my house, but it will be a much safer, cleaner, and less stressful environment than your typical large boarding facility with the addition of more 1-on-1 care.

Information Sarah S. would like to know about your pet
What is his/her temperament like? Are they okay with other dogs? What are some things they like/dislike? Is it okay to give them treats? Does your dog have any allergies? Is your dog confident and outgoing, shy and skittish or more neutral?
A typical day
A typical day at Spence K9 runs on a pretty tight schedule. In the morning, everyone with be let out to potty and be fed. If there are dogs that are allowed to play with other dogs, then they will be let out into the fenced lot for some playtime. If we have some less friendly dogs, then each dog will get individual time out in the lot. If anyone is receiving training, then I will cycle through training with each dog for the morning, let everyone have a break and then do the same thing in the afternoon. Each dog will have multiple potty breaks throughout the day as well as lots of time outside as long as weather permits! During the summer everyone will be brought inside for peak heat hours during the day so that they can stay cool.

Availability
I train dogs full-time, so pet care is more of a lifestyle for me rather than something I fit into my daily or weekly routine.
