I have great patience and control
Pet care experience
I've always wanted a dog of my own. But not just to have one. I want a friend. In college I took in a lab-pit mix and fostered her for a few days. Her name was Lea and I could not stop obsessing over her. She was amazing, and it was the first time I've ever seen a dog respect me in the manner she did. She showed me what it was like to have a dog, even if it was for a tiny second. Almost three years later and I still think about her every day. I want to rescue a big dog, just like her. She didn't behave very well but she listened to me when I corrected her. Its not that she didn't want to be a good dog, I think she just didn't know how. In the college town I was living in, everyone would get these extremely cute, extremely expensive puppies, and I would see these students completely neglect to show the type of care that you need in order to have a dog. I would help my friends walk their pit bulls and huskies but they were totally out of control! It makes me think people got these dogs as an accessory, and not a companion, and they get these dogs way before they have the time and knowledge to do it well. I do plan on having multiple dogs in the future. I plan on taking classes and giving them my all. But before I can do that I must be in the right place. I need to be set financially, spatially, and time-wise as well. What those college students do is wrong. Dogs deserve space to run and time to train. Some day I will rescue many dogs. But since I could never just get one without knowing what I can provide for it, I will walk and pet sit, and love other dogs until I can have one of my own.
