Energetic and experienced!

Pet care experience

I have worked with dogs since I was very young. I started volunteering at shelters at the age of 8 and I always helped my family, neighbors, and friends care for their pets. After college, I trained and worked as a professional dog trainer. In my 15 years as a dog trainer, I have worked with many clients, from group puppy classes to advanced skills, to teaching senior dogs new tricks. I helped with a behavior modification program at a shelter in Maine. I learned to train dogs for therapy and service, search and rescue, tracking, and versatile hunting. I have a depth of knowledge of many training techniques, but I am first and foremost a “force free” trainer that uses positive reinforcement techniques. I have many tools/skills in my bag and do believe that there is not a “one size fits all” method for training.

Fantastic. Super nice. Could not have asked for a better sitter for our high energy girl. She took her in last minute and really loved on her. Highly recommended.

Sarah did a great job with Saylor. She sent lots of photos and videos during her stay! Sarah has 2 dogs herself and introduced them to saylor one bu one. They all got along great. I love that Sarah as a fenced in yard and a doggy door so Saylor could go outside whenever she wanted!! Will definitely use Sarah again!

Safety, trust & environment

I can provide walks around your neighborhood or car trips/walks to a nearby park. I am able to stay at your home when you are away to provide company for your pet and safety for your home. For house sitting, this is usually overnight care from 8pm to 8am. I can provide drop in visits to let your pup out for potty breaks during my stay at your home. If you’d like to add midday walks to the stay, we can discuss discounted rates for add-ons during booking. I, now, also provide boarding in my home. My house is typically pretty quiet. I have a puppy, Charlie, who is fairly well trained. He is a rescue and is still working on greeting new people. He LOVES making new dog friends. Working in rescue and with training clients, I also typically have a foster or board and train dog at my home. I have plenty of space to separate dogs, if needed, including a separate outdoor area.

Information Sarah S. would like to know about your pet

Please provide as much information about your dog as you can. Does your dog have any special needs and/or behaviors I should be aware of (leash reactivity, resource guarding, etc). If behavioral modification training is needed/wanted, let me know and we can consult and discuss a plan.

A typical day

A typical walk is a time to get out and burn of some energy; mental energy as well as physical. As a dog trainer, I like to incorporate training exercises into walks to make walks fun and engaging. At my home, our typical day includes a couple of walks, some play outside in the yard, and usually a trip to a park. I have a dog door and the pups can let themselves in and out as they please. We are ALWAYS training (positive reinforcement). Whether engaged in fun games, walking, or relaxing, it’s all training! I try my best to provide an enriching environment for my dog (and fosters) and your dog, as well, when they are in my care.
