Elderly & Special Needs🐦🐇🐕🐈💉💊
Pet care experience
My passion is taking care of elderly and special needs pets with love, compassion, and patience. I started using Rover as a way to help mourn the loss of my elderly dog who struggled with arthritis and pain management. I administered his oral and injected medications regularly. The transition of not having a dog in my home was difficult for me and having dog guests in my home and caring for pets brings me so much happiness. I know first hand how hard it is to find a trustworthy sitter so I wanted to put my services out there as I am knowledgeable and experienced. I have taken care of birds and dogs my entire life since I was little. My real passion is with exotics. I have rescue birds, hermit crabs, rescue guinea pigs and a rescue rabbit. *^* I have pet first aid and CPR as well as pet sitter insurance *^*
Reviews
This was the first time we used this service. Sarah agreed to help us out with only a single day of notice. She was incredibly good with our two kitties, she sent a lot of pictures, and her updates were excellent. Most importantly, she gave us peace of mind knowing our fur babies were being loved and well looked after while we were away. I'd give her six stars if I could!
Sarah was absolutely fantastic. She made me very at ease leaving my anxious pup. She is clearly very well educated and familiar with dog behaviour. She takes such amazing care of fur babies!
Sarah was warm and wonderful with our clingy little dog!
I would book Sarah in again in a heartbeat. She took care of our two bunnies and was meticulous in her care of them. She always sent photos and updates which was so appreciated. She went above and beyond what I expected. They were cared for so well and this made our trip away so much more relaxing. We came home to two happy bunnies with clean litter boxes and fully stocked veggies. Definitely will rebook her in future.

I care for pets in your home with patience and care. I have the capacity to sit dogs in my home as I have a lot of space. I keep my home very clean and run three air purifiers. I also have orthopaedic big dog beds in each room of my place so that the senior dogs in my care can stretch out their legs and be comfortable. There’s a big basket of Kong and Chuck It toys in my place for dog guests. I keep water bowls on each floor so there’s easy access to water. I like the companionship of having animals around and try my best to understand their needs. I have pill pockets for administering pill medications, a sharps container for disposing needles, and joint support treats if you approve. I have XS and SM belly band diapers for male inconsistent dogs. I also have a waterproof baby change pad to lay on top of beds if needed. Ensuring my senior and special needs dog guests are comfortable and relaxed is highly important to me.

Information Sarah S. would like to know about your pet
I adore elderly and special needs dogs. If I am boarding your dog, it needs to not be a barker as I don’t want to disturb my neighbours. Please ensure your pet’s profile is updated with: **Temperament including likes, dislikes and quirks **Meal routine and portion **Medication routine and dosage **Recall and other commands that are useful to know (if any) **Bathroom routine
A typical day
With dogs, taking the time to get to know them and bond is important. There are a lot of beautiful parks in Victoria which helps for walk locations. I believe that bird enrichment is super important and supervised time out of the enclosure is important. I’m great at handling birds and understanding their body language. Regular water and food changes is also very important. With rabbits and Guinea pigs their needs can be particular. I’m very patient and respectful with them and like to give them space unless they show me they want acknowledgment. Keeping their food routine is important so that they aren’t stressed out. With hermit crabs I know the importance of regular food changes and maintaining their fresh and salt water baths.
