I have owned several of my own pets over the years, including a diabetic cat who needed insulin shots daily, and pets requiring medication daily. I have worked in two vet's offices, once as a kennel worker taking care of and cleaning up after sick and boarding patients, and the other as a receptionist/vet tech. I have experience with many types of dogs and cats, as well as farm animals and horses.

I always make sure the pets that I sit are comfortable, safe, and happy. I make sure to follow the specific instructions laid out for me and treat everyone's pets like my own. I'm very transparent with the pet parents I sit for and make sure that I am consistently in contact with them and let them know how their pets are daily.

I can administer medications to dogs and cats, whether that be orally or injected. I have had several pets that have or currently require oral medications, and have had a cat in the past that received daily insulin injections. I would like to know what the pet requires in terms of medication or if they are shy and need special treatment or extra time to warm up. I'd also like to know if they are aggressive with other dogs or have any particular behavioral things that I need to be aware of in order to provide the safest and best care for them.
A typical day
I know that so many dogs need mental and physical stimulation, especially when their owners are away. I will play with the dogs, whether that means tug rope or throwing a tennis ball, and will walk them if needed or required to burn that energy. I also know that cats can be anxious when routines are broken and owners are away. I will try to play with any of them that are interested in order to burn the energy and ease anxiety.

I am currently a part-time employee with the ability to make time to fit sitting in my schedule. I currently have two cats and take care of them daily, so I am used to the routine of taking care of them daily.
