A Doggone Good Time

Pet care experience

Nuclear power may be my vocation, but animals are my passion. I grew up taking care of all kinds of animals such as dogs, cats, small animals, horses, fish, and reptiles. They have always been a constant in my life and I wouldn’t change that for anything, so I relish the opportunity to take care of your furry (or not-so-furry) friends. A little more about me: My name is Sarah and in 2016, when I was done with school, I moved to Champaign permanently where I now live with my boyfriend (who also loves dogs). I have a B.S. in nuclear power engineering and an A.A.S. in radiation protection/health physics. I refueled nuclear reactors for a time (I was gone fission, if you will), but luckily for you and your best friend(s) I’m home full-time for the time being. I have plenty of time to give them the love and attention they deserve! When your pet comes to my house, they can expect: 1. An endless barrage of affection (if they’re into that!) 2. Lots of playtime 3. Snuggles 4. Did I mention affection? I have a back yard, but I also live very close to Spalding Park and West Side park. I take my own dog to both frequently, and he loves having companions! Special needs and senior dogs are 100% welcome; I have experience caring for both. I’m very flexible so I can absolutely accommodate your schedule, as well as last-minute/emergency bookings. I’m available for boarding your dog (or cat, or small animal) in my home, doggy daycare in my home, house sitting in your home, drop-in visits, and walks.

Sarah took such great care of our pup & two bunnies. She stayed every night for over a week as requested, and also entertained our naughty sweetheart 😆 lots of tug of war & an excellent trip to the local park were cherries on top! Plus I think she left the house in better order than we did during the hand-off. Will definitely rebook if schedules allow!!

Information Sarah R. would like to know about your pet

I do not have any breed preferences - all are welcome. You have a dog, and I would like to pet that dog. That’s all there is to it. However, there are a couple things I would like to know: Would you like me to hang out with your dog? Would your dog like to hang out with me? Okay, jokes aside... please let me know the following: 1. If they’re up-to-date on vaccinations 2. If they have any personality quirks/anxiety triggers 3. Their feeding schedule 4. Your vet’s contact information 5. Whether or not they have issues being around other dogs (I can only accept house sitting, drop-in, or walk bookings if this is the case) 6. If they have special needs or need medication administered

A typical day

I love to be outside so if your pup does too, I’m a perfect match! We’ll take long walks on the beach... I wish. But we can take long walks to parks! I have lots of balls and frisbees if fetch is a preferred activity. If your pup doesn’t love to be outside, that’s okay too. With a full basement and lots of toys, we have plenty of room to play inside. Active dogs, couch potatoes, and everything in between are welcome.
