I love animals dearly. I've been volunteering at animal shelters for the past 14 years, both socializing cats and walking/socializing dogs, and that's a very important part of my life. It ultimately inspired me to go vegetarian. I have also had cats for about the same number of years, and and I've pet-sat for friends' dogs, cats, and rabbits countless times. My fiancee and I have three cats currently, and we just moved to Tuscaloosa in August, at which point we realized that our neighborhood is home to a huge group of community cats (not quite feral). We fell in love right away and have been feeding them regularly, and we plan to try to find homes for the ones who seem adoptable, and to get the others spayed/neutered. My shelter experience means that I am completely comfortable with any breed or size of dog. And one of our cats is diabetic, so I am quite used to administering insulin. I really love all animals, so there aren't any species I'm afraid of or wouldn't want to care for - for example, I admit I don't have much reptile experience, but I would be happy to care for snakes or turtles, etc. I really can't think of a better gig than hanging out with pets! I'd be honored to take care of yours, and you can be assured I view every creature (from field mice to domesticated pets to elephants!) as unique beings to treat with respect and lots of love.
