When experience matters....

Pet care experience

I am a huge animal lover and advocate. I have had and cared for a wide range of animals since I was kid, but began working with animals professionally in 2017. Since that time I have worked and/or volunteered at animal shelters or rescues in Mexico, San Diego, Santa Rosa and San Francisco. In 2020 I received a fear free animal handling certification. I am experienced in handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments, including leash and/or dog reactivity and resource guarding. I have also cared for dogs with physical impairments and medical conditions including deafness, amputations, eye removal, seizures, kidney and heart failure, and cancer radiation treatment.

Sarah is a dream come true for anyone looking for dog care. She stayed with our 3 year old dog and our 3 month old puppy for almost a week and we could not have been more pleased with everything about her service. Sarah is clearly a dog whisperer, extremely experienced, responsible, kind and made us feel so comfortable leaving our dogs in her care. She communicated with us the whole time sending us updates and photos and kept a perfect schedule of walks and playtime. We feel so blessed to have connected with Sarah and look forward to having her take care of our dogs again soon.

Sarah has been a pet sitter and dog walker for my dog for many years. She is very reliable and communicative, but most importantly, my dog loves her. I have recommended her to many people and will continue to do so!

Safety, trust & environment

I am gentle, kind and patient with all animals. I understand that like people, all animals are different and can require a different approach. I can help with leash loose walking and crate training, as well as general manners and commands as requested. I will always prioritize your pets' safety and wellbeing. Two of my personal dogs are dog selective and aggressive and so boarding at my home is not currently an option.

Information Sarah L. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your animals have any medical concerns and any special diets or medications. Also, if there are specific behaviors or triggers that I should know in advance.

A typical day

When it comes to walks, dogs enjoy variety as much as we do. So, we will explore new surrounding areas as much as possible and allow for plenty of sniffing and decompression time. For overnights we will also have some play time (fetch, tug, etc) and maybe use puzzles or toy feeders. There will always be plenty of affection and snuggles to go around. We can work together and make sure that your pet maintains consistency with their routine and training needs.

I am currently volunteering part-time at a local dog rescue and so my schedule is fairly flexible. I would like to get a steady stream of dog walking and drop-in clients, as well as some overnight/house sitting and cat care. I have 3 dogs and 1 senior cat whom I am solely responsible for. So, I do still need to provide them with daily care as well.
