Pet care experience
I am a mildly obsessed animal lover! I have an 80lb 10-year old lab husky mix, Lincoln, who has taught me so much in our relationship. I grew up with dogs so have a lot of experience and am comfortable with small to giant friends. After rescuing Lincoln, it became clear that he does not do well in kennels and it caused him significant anxiety and stress. Since dealing with Lincoln's anxiety and slow integration to trust new people, I have done significant research to set him, and the people around us, up for success. I want to be able to help other pets who struggle with the same anxiety or fear, and ease the process for owners who get stressed about making arrangements for their favorite friends. I am that parent too! I love taking photos with our visitors and updating clients on our adventures. Check out @island_tailsntrails on instagram to see more of my past clients! If you are looking for a compassionate and knowledgeable sitter who will treat your pet like family, I am your person. Let's organize a meet up! ****** COVID Update******* I am fully vaccinated effective July 30, 2021, but am happy to wear masks or to take any other safety precautions you need to feel comfortable for walks, boarding, and drop off and pick up. Reviews
Sarah was great with Berkley and made sure to keep us updated during our time away!
Took great care of our girl, gave me lots of photos and updates. Felt so comfortable with Sarah. Thank you!
Sarah is a true dog lover and cares for our dog like she was her own xo
"Aunty Sarah" is honestly the best! We feel the utmost confidence in her ability to care for our puppy and trust that she'll manage all situations with his best interests in mind. Gryffin loves her. We love her.

Safety, trust & environment
Your pets are part of our pack during their stay or visit (and beyond). I like to create a comfortable, safe, and fun environment so your pet is cared for just like one of my own. I communicate well and often, in fact taking photos and sharing them with owners is one of my absolute favourite things to do!
Information Sarah G. would like to know about your pet
I like to arrange a meet up and have the dog meet Lincoln so I can see how they walk together and how the new dog greets people, animals, and other distractions. I use this time to ask about the other dogs' habits: are they crate trained, do they have special toys/bedding, do they share toys well, is there ever competition for food, etc.? I also like to know how often the parents want to be updated by text and with photos or any other special instructions. I have set up a trial home visit (30 mins) in the past for anxious dogs or parents and would be happy to take that step after setting up an initial meet up.
A typical day
As I am slowly learning more areas around Campbell River some of our new favourites include: the seawall, Tyee Spit, Beaver Lodge, Bear Creek, Ripple Rock, Elk Falls, Canyon View Trail, McIvor Lake, Willow Creek, Saratoga Beach, and Oyster River. I've enjoyed heading up into Strathcona Park areas and Upper Campbell Lake, going over to Quadra or Cortez for the day, and down into Cumberland or Royston.

We walk at least 3 times daily and hike often for at least an hour or more on weekends. In the house, pets are allowed on furniture and sleep on my bed. We continue with long leash training and have completed 2 levels of obedience school together. Lots of treats and meals twice daily (Lincoln eats grain free organic kibbles and infrequently raw). Availability (unless otherwise noted in my calendar): Check ins and walks - Weekdays early morning, 12-1pm, 5-10 pm, and Weekends all day and evening Boarding case-by-case I am currently awaiting a flexible work arrangement so may be able to provide limited day care services in the near future.
