Dog Care Details

Pet care experience

Ever since I was a kid I've taken care of dogs. When I was a child my family was gifted a German Shepard Puppy. My way older brother and my mom would do most of the training, but they didn't socialize the dog properly, so it was accustomed to biting and being aggressive. Me and my other slightly older brother were tasked with walking the dog regularly. It grew quick and I got dragged a couple times because the dog was too big and strong for me to control all the way. This is why I'm only accepting dogs 40lbs and under. I do not feel it's safe for me to walk a dog if I cannot properly control it in emergency situations. At one point the neighbors toddler wondered out of their house without supervision. My German Shepard lunged at the kid and I put myself between my growling, barking German Shepard and the kid until their guardian came out and got them. Using this as an example of how I've dealt with unruly dogs in the past, I would like to say I'm not accepting unruly dogs that have a habit of biting, growling, or aggressively barking at myself, other people, or dogs. It is unfortunately a hazard and safety risk. A couple years after my way older brother moved out with his dog, our next door neighbors gave us their dog, a tiny white German Shepard who was nearing the end of her life. I filled and replaced the food and water in her bowls, gave her baths, trimmed her nails, washed her paws, and brushed her. When thunderstorms or holidays with loud fireworks came, I would have to wrap her in a special vest since she would tremble so hard, poor thing. Her previous owners didn't take care of her teeth properly, so they were a little rotten. She was also incontinent, so I would puppy pads in my room and take her out every couple of hours, even waking up at 2am to take her outside to use the bathroom. I did this until we had to put her down due to unfortunate health problems. This being said I know how to cut a dogs nails, bathe them, and brush them. I don't know how to brush their teeth or wipe their ears, though I'm willing to learn if that's something you'd like to do. I'm keeping my care limited to dog walks only due to wanting to keep my address private for now. <:)

As her older brother, I can definitely say that Sarah is a very attentive dog sitter. She always makes sure that the dog is comfortable and looked after to the best of her ability. Good dog sitter.

Sarah is a kindhearted and sweet girl who loves both people and especially animals alike. Sarah takes personal safety and preparation as seriously as possible. Truly a wonderful person.

Sarah is smart, responsible, and loving towards animals. She always stops to ask permission to pet animals out and about. She is very caring and has critical thinking skills which served her well as the alternate battalion commander of JROTC at Estero High school. Sarah also was a part of the band group often performing in multiple venues. She knows how to think on her feet as she was in the CNA program which trained at Health Park hospital. Sarah is a responsible caring person and will be a great addition to any organization.

Safety, trust & environment

I am not currently house sitting dogs in my or anyone else's home. Though, if I were to provide care, I would play with the dogs, tire them out, maybe even set up some TV channels made specifically for dogs for them to watch. Either that or I would just chill out on the couch and watch some YouTube depending on the personality of the dog or the instructions of the owner. If the dog is snoozing in the middle of the floor and there's nothing else to do, I'll probably be on the phone and keep my eye on the dog.

Information Sarah F. would like to know about your pet

You need to tell me ahead of time if your dogs bark or lunge at people or dogs. I don't walk dogs I can't control, as it's a safety risk to everyone. I need to know if your pets are allergic to any materials or foods. I might give them a dog treat or two if I can, and I wouldn't want your dog to be allergic to it. Let me know about any medical problems your dog may have if you see it becoming a problem during our walk. <:)

A typical day

It will mostly be walking and some playing. It all depends on if your dog can be trusted to come back when not on a leash. I can't play fetch with a dog that won't come back, yknow? That would limit me to just tug of war toys mostly. If Treats are allowed and they're good boys/girls, I'll give them one or two. :)

I'll be working part-time to make some money over the summer. I'm free most days, though I do have a couple things happening over the summer. Vacations and all that fun stuff, you know? I prefer to wake up later in the day, but I'm more than willing to wake up early in the morning to walk some cute fur babies! :)
