Your dog or cat's walking pal!

Pet care experience

*Always up for meeting new pet friends! Their humans too!* I go to the gym, but would rather be walking outside with a dog. Cats are very ok too! UPDATE (May 2018)! I've maxed out on clients! I'm being conservative and sticking with the "quality" over "quantity" ideal. I'd rather see just a few furry friends per week and not risk being unavailable for my regulars. If this situation changes I'll post about it! Until then, my best wishes to you and I am certain you'll find another awesome Rover sitter to help you out! ^.^d UPDATE (April 2018)! I've recently had requests for visiting with Pitbulls, puppy and adults. I don't feel confident in working with these dogs. Please understand... I have friends with Pitbulls and they have been gems! But also I have a relative who's dog had a great history, even played with little wild birds! Unfortunately one day broke loose from his yard and nearly killed another dog down the street. I'm told Pitbulls can require special handling and I don't have that training. To be conservative I am mostly sticking with small dogs. I do have a couple of big dogs I visit, but I've known them since they were puppies! =D UPDATE (March 2018)! I just raised my rates for new clients. I'm not a greedy person at all, it is I have many regulars that I love dearly that it isn't as easy to fit new ones in. But! If you are a new potential client and it happens I am not busy when your fur kid needs a visit, I may be able to give you a lower rate. Message me and let me know what your story is. =) UPDATE (1/20/2018)! Happy New Year 2018! I've had a wonderful six months on Rover meeting new pets and owners! Thank you for all that have had me come by for visits as they are always enriching! This year I was home for the holidays so I was able to take on a good handful of pets while their owners were away. It was a lot of work but I enjoyed it thoroughly! I was really tired at the end of the days but I was grinning ear to ear! I wanted to make extra sure the pets were getting lots of love because some may not be used to their owners being gone for days at a time. I got lots of happy barks and purrs every day! =D UPDATE (7/2/2017) :-) I've been enjoying visiting with new dogs and kitties! It's one thing to interact with pets you've known for years, but it is a whole other pleasure to spend quality time with animals who are new to you. Not only do you get to introduce yourself to them, but also learn how they want to communicate with you. Already with my short time on Rover I've met well socialized pets. I praise their guardians for this! Kudos also to these guardians who care about their animals to have someone come check in on them when they have to be away. Pets are our friends. They get lonely, and they can get scared and into trouble if they feel ignored. (My original spiel!) I'm a very well rounded animal person! I had my first cat at 4 years old, my first duck around the same time. My first animal related "job" was walking a dog(on a leash) was when I was six years old: Walking my classmate's Miniature Dachshund around their neighborhood block! That year we also raised fish for my school's carnival. And my mom got me a Bassett Hound puppy! I got my first horse when I was 7. My first job as a teenager was cleaning horse stalls, grooming and exercising horses at a small rural stable. Of course all around were dogs, cats, chickens, peacocks. Everyone was an animal person if they were there. I was responsible, honorable, and trustworthy. I was one of those kids who really enjoyed my sports and never got into drugs or alcohol. After many adventures in life, I moved back to San Diego from LA a few years ago and am living in a condo where I can't have pets. My last dog was a high energy Pembroke Corgi, and my kitty was a mellow, but very sensitive Birman/Ragdoll mix. Both very healthy, well cared for physically and emotionally. When I moved down here I re-homed my dog with a very dog savvy friend with a big back yard and kitty with retired neighbors who care for their own cats that they treat like gods. Animals have always been like friends to me. I love spirit, curiosity, intelligence. I like to play and I am very patient. Having grown up with horses and a little brother, one of my greater skills is that I am very keen-eyed toward potential dangers. For instance if I'm out with a dog and hear a fire truck(or other scary noisy/looking thing) coming toward us, I'll get real close to the dog and calm them, reassure them(like talking to them calmly, petting) I know what is going on and be their "rock". And holding tight if they get scared and want to flee. Or if I see a problem down the road that I can avoid, I'll circumnavigate! I prefer the fun of low stress walking myself! Also, I like to think I'm sensitive to a problem with an animal. A limp...Is there a burr between the toes, a scrape, split toenail? Odd licking...A skin problem or irritation in his/her mouth? Itchy ear...bug, burr or what inside? Something spooking them I can't see? Or even does he/she look tired from the walk and need a break to rest and/or have some water? No problem. I like to be happy, healthy and stress free. And that's the kind of people and animals I want to hang out with! I want to note, if for some odd reason a client's dog doesn't feel comfortable with me, or has anxiety leaving home for a walk I won't force it. I'll skip the walk and can either give them some love and playtime in the front yard for my visit or just cancel it. I'll leave it up to the owner what to do. I've been called a "dog whisperer" and I kinda laugh at that but appreciate the complement. It usually has to do with a dog accepting me quickly, being happy around me.

Sarah is awesome, as always. She is great at playing with our little fur ball of a cat. She even tried out giving our cats some commands we'd been working on! She always has great photos too! If you are looking for a cat sitter, look no further. ?
