A Dog's Best Friend

Pet care experience

I've been a professional Dog Trainer since May of 2010, I've been pet-sitting for my clients since November 2011, I have two dogs, a lab/beagle mix who weighs about 40 lbs and a mixed breed (maybe corgi/St. Bernard? He's an odd mix) who's also about 40 lbs, Both have been around other dogs frequently their whole lives, and are great with animals in general. All dogs that stay with me get between 1 and 2 long walks everyday and as many outdoor bathroom breaks as they need. I have children who love dogs and know all the dog rules. I do have 3 cats, one of my cats -- the youngest -- loves dogs and plays with the dogs that stay with me. For your dog's comfort, and for your peace of mind, I do ask that you either schedule a meet and greet, or feel entirely comfortable having your pup stay with new people and animals. I do have some regular clients that book with me frequently, so there's often three or four dogs already here. I've only had to turn one pup away that wasn't a good fit, and my dog training experience prepares me for a lot, but I want to make sure everyone's comfortable, happy, and at ease with the situation, so a meet and greet is often a good idea. Although I work, my husband is home with the kids, and because of childcare we're rarely both out of the house for more than a couple of hours, so your pup will have company all day. I'll also make sure to keep up on your training regimen, so your dog is as well-behaved when you come home as when you left. For a slight fee increase I can work on specific issues to correct them for you and then give you a quick dog training primer when you get home. I do ask, for your dog's comfort, that you bring enough food for your vacation, plus a serving or two in case you have to stay longer than anticipated, a crate or kennel if your dog is crate trained to minimize stress, and any special toys or treats your dog loves. I have treats and a few toys for your dog to enjoy while she's with me, but it's always good to have something that smells like home. I also strive to maintain consistency with feeding times and rituals, so I'll ask questions about what you feed, when you feed, and what your dog is expected to do (sit, stay, wait until a release word, something along those lines) at meal-time.

I have been using Sarah's services for overnight stays on weekends and holidays since 2014. My oldest baby, who has never been away from his human family, did great at Sarah's. My whole pack is always happy when we load them up for a visit. I know that Jakie learned how to walk on a leash because of her. Highly recommended.

We were visiting Carbondale from out of state for a family wedding, and Sarah could not have been more accommodating! Our schedule was in flux, due to family commitments and the rainy weather, and Sarah just rolled with it. She responded to texts promptly and provided photos for each day. I would highly recommend her and would not hesitate to use her again if we visit the area in the future. Thank you for a great first experience using DogVacay.com. :-)

Great stay, happy dog. Sarah communicated promptly and made me feel very comfortable with my first experience with the app. Will definitely contact Sarah again for future stays.

Had a wonderful experience with Sarah. She had me and maddie come and meet the family (children and dogs) previous to our stay. It gave me comfort to know I had made the right decision. Madison stayed a week and I was concerned about the extended stay due to her being a shelter dog with abandoment issues. When I picked her up she was calm and had serttled in as if it was her home. I could tell right away she had enjoyed her stay and all was well. Sarah posted photos along the way to help me feel conected and see how she was doing. Loved that. I is well worth the $$ to have your pet so well taken care of. I would recommend and use Sarah again when I need to leave. Thanks again Sarah
