We arranged with Sarah for housesitting for our pets. Heard a few days into the stay that a family issue (death in partner's family the previous week) had resulted in the dogs being left alone all day one day, and one had defecated on the rug in our office. Sarah offered no apology but a breezy suggestion that we get the rug dry-cleaned. Came home in a heat wave to find 14 piles of stinking dog poop in the yard. Neighbor/friend reports that she rarely stayed overnight as promised, left the lights on all night, spent about an hour each morning, and some short time in evening. Air-conditioning turned way down, surprising to discover that she wasn't even here most of the time. The dogs were clearly neglected, depressed, and disoriented when we returned despite her assurances that they were "cuddled." Long on the PR chatter and irresponsible in the real world with the living beings in her care. Just feels like a big violation of trust.

Sarah did great with our pup! She always sent photos of her while we were away and left us great updates on how she was doing. We were so grateful for her while we went away for the holiday!
