International Pet Sitter

Pet care experience

*** MOVED BACK TO EUROPE*** I absolutely love animals and grew up with them always around from the moment I was born. There were always at least 3 dogs and some cats in my household. We also had horses, llamas, rabbits, and guinea pigs on a little farm for several years. Since selling our little farm, most of my experience has been with dogs and cats. I lived in Rome, Italy for 6 years and got my archaeology degree. During University, I had picked up pet sitting and house sitting gigs for other expats and locals to make some extra cash. After University, I decided to pursue it full-time because I was getting booked so often and really enjoyed it more than just a “gig”. Most of my clients worked for UN agencies, but I also sat for an ambassador to The Holy See and a professional volleyball player! I also volunteered at some shelters in Rome and helped exercise their dogs. Covid-19 brought me back to the US and I continue to pet and house sit. I am very trustworthy, reliable, and open to different types of house sitting. I can be available all day for the animals (except if I have errands), as I work from home teaching English to Asian children (very early mornings). A reliable internet connection is all that is required for me. WHAT I CAN BRING TO THE ASSIGNMENT: PEACE OF MIND! Your animals and/or house will be in good hands. I can provide daily updates with photos/videos and take care of them in the best way possible while following their usual schedule. The pet's comfort level is most important. Not only am I a pet sitter, but I have also been a pet owner, so I know what it is like to want your babies left in good hands. I also have a certificate in pet first aid and CPR. I am an active person, so I love doing fun things with dogs, like bringing them to swim, going for hikes and walks, or bringing them to the dog park. Not only that, but I'm the kind of person that will sleep on the edge of the bed with 1 inch of a blanket so that the animals can sleep comfortably! I don't just do the bare minimum with animals- I like to hang out with them as well and get to know them. I have a TON of experience with rescue dogs, and even feral dogs. In fact, most of the dogs I have watched are rescues and have PTSD. I understand that it can take a while for them to warm up and fully trust you- I once walked/sat a dog for 3 years, but it took about a year for her to 100% trust me. She was EXTREMELY traumatized from her past. Recently I volunteered at an animal shelter in a very secluded and remote area for 4 months while I was house sitting in NM. Mostly all the dogs were adult ferals or puppies, and had spent their lives wandering the desert dehydrated and hungry. I fostered a few of them and by the time they left they had improved SO much…and have since been adopted! Some had never seen grass before, been in a house before, etc. For many of the puppies I had to administer medicine because they came with health issues. I also have a lot of experience with senior dogs. I am experienced in helping them stand up to go to the bathroom, assisting them up the stairs/car/etc, and just generally being a crutch for them if they need it.

Sarah is amazing! She is punctual, communicative, and loves my Echo. I felt completely at ease on my trip and I came home to a very happy pup.

Sarah is awesome, we've had her watch our home and our pets multiple times. She always takes great care of them and our home while we're gone. Highly recommended.

Second time Sarah has watched Ein for me and once again was fantastic! Even dealt with an error on my end without showing any frustration, regardless of how annoying I’m sure it was!

Sarah did an excellent job attending to the two cats put in her charge. She’s a trustworthy caretaker. We would definitely request her services again, and recommend her highly. As a side note, she has a positive outgoing personality and comes across as a very capable person.

I follow the animal's routine as closely as possible. Keeping them comfortable is my number 1 priority. I ask a lot of questions during the meet and greet to understand their daily routine.

Information Sarah B. would like to know about your pet

I prefer to ask the questions in person, but they consist of if they have allergies, preference around children, female/male dogs, food aggressive, filtered/unfiltered water, etc..

A typical day

I am an active pet sitter but this, of course, depends on the type of dog I am watching. I frequently go hiking, walking, and swimming with dogs. This is of course up to the owner and what the dog is comfortable with.
