I love walks as much as your dog!
Pet care experience
I’ve been around dogs most of my life and they’ve always been a huge source of joy for me. I cared for my family dog since we got him when I was in 4th grade, and throughout my childhood, teen, and adult years have done dog walking and dog sitting for friends and family. I adopted my own pit bull mix and gained experience in caring for a dog with behavioral issues and walking a large, strong pet. Unfortunately, he became sick and has passed, and while I am not in the place to adopt another dog yet, I want to continue to care for animals in any way I can right now. I love my daily walks for my physical and mental wellness, and would love to share them with your dog! I know how much responsibility owning a dog is, and how important the physical and mental stimulation of walks are for them, so I hope to support folks who want to care for their dog with the help of a dog walker who also loves the interaction and connection with animals.

Sara is very responsible and trustworthy and making time to spend with dogs by providing service to dog owners brings great joy both to her and the pups she encounters.

I will respect and abide by any rules and requests in regards to your dog’s care and what you need in terms of your home, or mine. I live in a very dog-friendly apartment complex with a grassy area for folks to take their dogs out, and I frequently drive to trails around Bellingham to walk. If you would like your dog to be taken to any particular hikes, etc. please let me know and I would love to give them that important nature time.

Please let me know your dog’s personality and typical behaviors. Is your dog typically comfortable with other people and other animals? This will help me determine where to walk your dog and whether to encourage or prevent interactions with other people or dogs on our walks. If your dog prefers a peaceful nature walk with minimal social interaction or if you would like them to pass by more people and pets on a popular trail, let me know! Is your dog allergic to anything? Treat preferences? Is your dog afraid of anything in particular? Is your dog high-energy and can walk quickly for some time, or prefers a slow and short walk?
A typical day
I love to walk dogs on trails around Bellingham where they can get the best sniffs! Walks provide dogs with important physical exercise, but also the mental stimulation of sniffing along their walk is what can tire your dog out and leave them happy and content the most! This is one reason why I like to give them the time and the opportunity to explore in nature safely with me. If requested/approved, I love to take dogs to lakes, beaches, and on hikes with me but also enjoy sitting at the park and reading with a dog who prefers or who can only walk minimally, or outside a coffee shop for those who enjoy the social aspect. I will happily bring along their favorite toy to carry and tug with, or ball to throw and catch.

Availability
I am a full-time university student pursuing an elementary and special education dual degree. I am looking to work part-time through Rover. I am eager to combine quality time with animals and physical movement with supporting myself financially. Any pocket of my time I can fit in a dog walk or other dog care I will try to include in my routine.
