Professional Dog Daycare Experience

Pet care experience

I'm a petsitter/housesitter with professional dog daycare experience and foster dog/cat experience. I have had dogs since I was 5 years old. When I was younger, I showed dogs in dog agility. I continued that passion through volunteering at local shelters and working at a full care doggie daycare. I am passionate about pets, and I love to spend time and play with them. I have experience with reactive dogs and cats. If this is your situation, please reach out to me. I’m happy to meet with you and your pet to see if we’d be the right fit.

Sara has a great deal of experience taking care of animals. Her own pets have included dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, bunnies, and various rodents, so she knows a lot about their feeding, care, habitats, etc. She has also been a pet sitter for neighbors over the years, including a week at a farm where she took care of horses, chickens, and a baby deer. She has a great love for all animals and would provide responsible, patient and loving care for your pets.

Safety, trust & environment

I am available to housesit/petsit for the day in the home or stay overnight. I don’t do drop in visits, and my rates are the same whether I stay only for the day or I stay overnight. If I stay for the day, I’ll get to your home by 7:30am, and the last potty break will be 9pm. Potty breaks (with the exception of the hours between 9pm and 7:30am) are at least once every 4 hours. I generally take them out more than that. I scoop cat litter boxes once daily.

Information Sara S. would like to know about your pet

I need to know any behavioral issues your pet has (excessive barking, reactivity, potty accidents) and how you’d like for me to handle those issues. I want to help you with your training by being consistent. If your pet is reactive I’d like to know their history and what their triggers are (dogs, people, loud noises, etc.). I also need to know any allergies or health concerns.

A typical day

I’m happy to provide 2 walks per day (lunch time and evening) in addition to normal potty breaks. I generally let dogs take their time and sniff around on these walks, as scents are great mental stimulation for them. I have experience walking reactive dogs. I always play with dogs in the home as well and will provide them with whatever enrichment toys you have (kongs, lick mats, puzzle toys, etc). We can also practice their tricks. With cats I usually try to get in two good play sessions a day, depending on the activity level of the cat. I can also provide cats with enrichment toys you have on hand. I scoop litter boxes daily.

I work from home 3 days a week, so I would work from your house and be with your pet all day. If I do have to leave the home, my general rule of thumb is that your pet would not be left alone for more than 4 hours. These hours would depend on whether you want me to spend the night in the home or just spend the day.
