Pet care experience
I'm a lifelong lover of all pooches and a CCS graduate from the Northwest School of Canine Studies. I raised my own wheaten terrier for nearly 13 years and served as an SPCA volunteer, taking care of the smallest puppies (less than 6 weeks old!) to gray and regal dogs in their twilight years. I'm experienced and comfortable with canines across the behavioral spectrum, from shy, timid dogs to rambunctious ones. I love dogs of all sizes and breeds and I'm not intimidated by the big guys. Currently, I foster Seattle Humane dogs in my home as well, but never at the same time as your dog would be staying with me. On my profile, I've indicated that I accept dogs from multiple families, but this is if you're interested in booking with a friend or family member (i.e. the dogs know each other already and get along. I am not mixing dogs that are not familiar with one another already). My NWSCS training focused on understanding the root cause (s) of canine behavior and scientific animal learning theory. I engage in force-free training methods ONLY. I will not walk dogs on a prong or pinch collar. If your dog is a puller, I ask that you provide a harness with a front clip. I am happy to practice walking him/her on a Gentle Leader as well (which I can provide), if you'd like.
Reviews
I was so nervous that I would not find someone that would agree to care for Suki, my fearful, leash reactive 80lb baby pittie, and was so lucky to find Sara. Working with her has been easy and joyful because she has so much experience with rescue dogs and compassion for fearful and reactive pitties.
I feel so comfortable knowing my pup is with Sara. She is outstanding. I highly recommend!
Sara was amazing while watching our two pups- they felt right at home and she kept us updated with lots of photos and messages! Definitely will be using her services again.
Sara is an absolutely EXCELLENT pet sitter! I have 2 older dogs, one which needs eye medicine 3x daily. When I picked up my pups I could tell they were well taken care of. They looked truly happy. I received regular pictures and updates which I appreciated. I would recommend Sara to anybody.

Safety, trust & environment
I own my own home with a sizable yard and 6' fence/full visual barrier for your dog's safety. This has proven particularly helpful for dogs that struggle with getting enough exercise due to leash reactivity. I’ve also watched many dogs in their own homes over the years, as is reflected in a number of my reviews.

Information Sara S. would like to know about your pet
-Does your dog have any behavioral issues (particularly shy or rambunctious)? -Does your dog pull on the leash when walked? -How does your dog interact with other dogs? With human strangers? -Does your dog have any triggers (e.g. fear of loud noises)? -When you're not home, is your dog crated or loose in the house? -Does your dog have any allergies (other than foods all dogs should avoid)? -Is there anything your dog loves (e.g. swimming)? -Is there anything your dog hates (e.g. bath time)? -What's your dog's favorite toy or game (e.g. fetch, keep away)? -Anything else YOU'D like me to know about your canine companion? I have no breed preferences (and a soft spot for the unfairly maligned pitbull)!
A typical day
During a meet and greet, I’d be sure to review your dog’s routine with you in detail, so I’m able to keep up with all the normal activities your pup expects. Walks, outdoor playtime, indoor puzzles and games, couch snuggles and adventures on woodland trails are all possibilities depending on what fits your doggo’s activity level the best.

Availability
I do have a 9-5 day job apart from my dog sitting. However, it is 100% remote work now, so I’ll be with your dog all day to facilitate as many breaks as needed.
