Sara stayed with our dogs overnight while we were away. She was incredible with our old pups. She was patient with them, kept them on their routine and even trimmed their nails! We also received timely updates and pictures. Sara was professional and so sweet, we will absolutely contact her again to housesit!

Safety, trust & environment

Currently I have one cat that lives in my apartment with me and he is very well taken care of (he’s probably even a little too spoiled!) I don’t have a yard and cannot take pets into my apartment but I can stay in clients homes or do drop-ins. I am very trustworthy as I have worked in the veterinary field for almost 3 years so I have lots of experience with patient confidentiality as well as pet care and experience. I am trained in animal first aid and CPR in case of an emergency as well as having access to high quality veterinary contacts. I am also comfortable with handling and calming nervous or anxious animals that might feel the need to lash out at unknown circumstances

Information Sara J. would like to know about your pet

I need to know ahead of time if they have any sort of health concern, physical ailment, and their level of socialization around people and animals. I also need to know how long they can go between visits during the daytime. For all pets I would also appreciate having general vaccine information so I can make sure I take them to appropriate environments. This is especially important for puppies and dogs under the age of 2. I can also administer medications so any of those required I need to know of.

A typical day

It’s my opinion that dogs need both mental and physical stimulation to have a fulfilled day. Such activities include walks to local parks or play areas, allowing the pet to smell and possibly interact on leash with other dogs (with both owners explicit permission), and stimulating toys and treats at home such as puzzles or hidden treats With me, you can be rest assured that they will be in the best hands. For longer scheduled days/overnights, dogs will be let out to go to the bathroom every 45-60 minutes, have plenty of play time and be given lots of hands on attention. They will also have access to fresh water and food - following owner instructions. For cats, they will have their litter box checked and/or cleaned every 1-2 hours. They will also have access to toys, fresh food and clean water. For rodents/rabbits that stay in kennels or cages, they will always have fresh water, fresh food (pellets, veggies, etc) as well as clean bedding material. Unless they have a medical necessity, these pets will be mostly done on a drop-in basis 2-3 times a day. I also offer at-home nail trims for cats and dogs that are okay with being handled and held. Those would be on a cash/direct payment basis and prices would vary based on the size and temperament of the pet(s). I also offer drop-in appointments to give medications for more independent animals

I’m currently employed full time as a veterinary technician so my daytime hours are limited. However, I can do overnight sitting in a clients home, occasionally check ins and walks for more self sufficient animals. I am free before 6:30 am after 7:30 pm Thurs-Mon, and have open availability every Tuesday and Wednesday and some weekends. I can do drop-in appointments to give medications for more independent animals. I also offer at-home nail trims for cats and dogs that are okay with being handled and held. If this service interests you, please message me for more details.
