Im back home for the summer and ready to take care of some fluffy babies! I am a communications arts major and I love both caring for animals and drawing animals / creatures. Taking care of pets will be so much fun.. and I might even get to get in some live sketch practice too 😆. I’ve been taking care of dogs and cats since I lived in Spain for three years back in 2012 ! As soon as I was only enough to watch animals, I took every opportunity I was given. Little & big dogs alike as well as cats. I’d say I’m pretty good at dealing with random situations dealing with pets as I’m quick to clean up vomit or any pet accidents. One time, I had a kitten claw stuck in my neck! But I was able to unhook to kittens claw without injury to the kitten. In the past it has been either neighbors who know my mom or it has been her friends who ask for one of my siblings to pet sit. Seeing as I adore pets and getting to see what different breeds look like, I was always the one to nominate myself for the job. Through good and bad weather I’d be biking or walking to the destination 😤. I have a car now so further travel outside of my own neighborhood is totally possible. The past jobs usually consisted of me feeding the animals, taking them out to use the bathroom or for a walk around the neighborhood, and then with the cats it would be changing the litter and playing with them. Can’t say I’ve ever been tasked with washing a dog before, but I’d definitely be willing to learn to carry it out ! To ensure I never forgot to actually go to any of these jobs, I always made sure to have 30 minute warning timers at the ready to remind me if I ever somehow miraculously forgot. Overall I’ve pet sit many times before as well as watched 4 different dogs (at separate times) for a week straight at my own house for a week straight without issue. It was just an all around good time for me and the animals ! I’m home for the summer, so I’ll be free these next 3 months. Walking / pet sitting would preferably take place anytime after 11 am just to ensure I’ll be as attentive as possible. If my schedule were to change at any point, it will be updated immediately. Whatever instruction I’m given regarding the clients pet, I am sure to follow it to a tee. Whether it be walks around the neighborhood or playtime in the backyard, all can be carried out. For my own dog I would take him out to the bathroom whenever he rings his bell, and after that I would normally throw his toy around for as long as he’s willing to. When I walk my own dog, I make sure to have plenty of poop bags, dog treats just in case, and my attention is on the dog and following surroundings. Virginia drivers can be pretty inattentive sometimes !
