Thank you so much for considering trusting me with your dog(s). Dogs have been the greatest source of joy for me since Diesel, my heart and soul, entered my life in 2009. I worked in a veterinary clinic setting for several years, which led to me fostering dogs with medical needs, which led to serving as a foster program manager for a large animal shelter for nearly a decade. I worked with thousands of dogs over the years, both in the shelter setting and in foster or adoptive homes. I’m very comfortable and equipped to compassionately care for dogs of all ages, sizes, and with unique behavioral or medical needs.

Sara is amazing! I've never met someone who so effortlessly connects with dogs and sees the goodness inside each one of them, no matter what challenges they might have - anxiety, behavior issues, fearfulness, aggression. She is patient, kind, compassionate, and an incredible advocate for dogs that might otherwise be overlooked or underappreciated. It's easy to find someone to spend time with Fido if he's dog-friendly and loves people and is generally pretty chill - it takes a really special human like Sara to take care of all the Fidos out there who are NOT chill, and who need a calm and experienced and loving human to see their true potential. As the foster coordinator at KC Pet Project for the last 6+ years, she has saved thousands of dogs' lives, can stay calm in a crisis, knows more about dog behavior than anyone I've ever met, and has a soft spot for the toughest cases. She has placed 18 different dogs in foster with my wife and I, and cared about each and every one as if they were her own. Sara is the person I go to if I have questions about anything dog-related and I trust her with not only my life but my dog's, unquestioningly. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

I have seen Sara interact personally and professionally ffwith dogs for years and the empathy, understanding, and love she shows each animal is unapparelled. Sara understands how to approach dogs of all temperaments and personalities and is always looking for ways to provide the best possible experience for them. As a nature lover, she has never turned down a chance to take a dog out on an adventure to explore the world. I have and will continue to trust Sara with all the furry friends in my life.
Sara is a truly exceptional person. Incredibly intelligent & capable, but equally empathetic and engaged. I have watched her care for animals with significant challenges and needs — always offering a watchful eye and open heart. She not only adores animals and understands them, she has also devoted the last decade or more full-time to their advocacy. Sara is the kind of person you can trust with your home and animals and never worry. She consistently amazes me with her depth of knowledge when it comes to dogs (in particular) and their needs and welfare. Sara is the person I go to when I have any question related to my own dogs and I cannot recommend her highly enough to others. Sara is a loving, compassionate, smart and reliable person with a vast array of animal care experiences. She is my absolute go to when I have to travel. I am happy to stick to whatever your dog’s normal routine is or give them new and enriching experiences. I strongly believe that spending time in nature is healing and beneficial to the physical, mental and emotional health of both dogs and humans. Treating all beings with kindness, empathy and acceptance is so important to me and you can expect nothing less than that with your pup. Happy to care for any kind of dog, but have a soft spot for dogs who may struggle with fear, anxiety, stress or frustration and need a more thoughtful approach.

A typical day
I’d love to talk to you about your dog’s personal preferences and what they enjoy doing most, and focus on those things. If you’re interested and your dog is comfortable riding in the care, I’d love to take them on an adventure in a natural space where they decompress and have a blast exploring and just being a dog. My personal dogs and I spend a lot of time at James Reed Wildlife Area, Longview Lake, Minor Park, and whatever other cool spots we can find.
