Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Sara and I live with my husband Patrick in a house with a 1/4 of an acre, semi-fenced in yard. We have a 2yo dog named Presto - she is a rescue and about 40lbs. We fostered her and her brother for a few months in Austin, TX. Her brother was adopted and we couldn't let her go! Presto is a Shepard-mix, very active and friendly and loves other people and animals. We also have 2 cats. The older one - Moonbeam - has been with me for 9 years and she is very precious to me. MB was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism so I am adept at giving oral medication to animals or hiding it in a treat or meatball. Our other cat - Mercedes - is an indoor/outdoor cat that loves to climb trees, chase birds and squirrels, and get into all sorts of adventures. Mer Mer (as we affectionately call her) is 2yo and is a tortie calico. She is very pretty and Patrick fell in love with her while I was fostering her last winter. Since I will primarily be in charge of this profile and if you are seeking dog walkers, I can let you know that I've grown up with dogs my entire life. My childhood dog was also a Shepard-mix, but he was a very large dog - about 70lbs. He was my best friend and passed away when I was a teenager. My aunt who lived next door trained black labs and vetted them for to be service dogs. Naturally, I am a dog lover of all sizes and am quite intuitive when it comes to their needs. For example, as a puppy Presto needed to be directed or she would end up in some sort of trouble, such as, eating dirt (giving her worms). This required constant attention and sometimes I ended up putting a toy in her mouth because she needed something to do. I have trained her with a clicker and now she can walk with her leash attached me without pulling or getting distracted by other animals. Presto sleeps in a covered kennel and is very good about putting herself to bed around 8pm. Presto has a purse with a ball, poop bags, treats, and a whistle/clicker that I use if she gets distracted by other animals on our walks. My family also had cats their entire lives, and to this day, I get in trouble for sneaking my favorite ones extra treats. I am also part of the app Trusted Housesitters where I house sat for a couple with two cats while they were on their honeymoon for three weeks. I kept them updated with daily photos and they were quite concerned that their pets did not seem to miss them!
Reviews
Sara was so careful and caring taking care of our dog for two weeks. We were nervous leaving him for that long, but Sara made him feel right at home. He loved playing with her dog and spending a lot of time outdoors. She also sent photos every day so we knew he was having a great time. We will definitely ask Sara to take care of him again.
Sara was wonderful with my dog Homer. Loved all the pictures while he was in her care. It was very reassuring and made me know I left him in good hands.
Patrick and Sara were wonderful with my boy Pierre. Pierreis a golden-doodle and we met via Trusted House Sitters. They took care of my apartment and Pierre for 4 days when I was out of town for my birthday. Pierre and Presto are both high energy puppies so they matched perfectly and had a lot of fun at the park and going swimming. I was so happy that they sent me pictures and videos every day.
Sara and Patrick and Presto became best friends with our dog Molly one weekend in Austin. Molly is a small long-haired dachshund that can be apprehensive of other animals at times, but Presto is very submissive and playful. Sara sent lots of pics and videos of them playing and was available for a meet and greet prior to the dog sit. This made me feel very comfortable about leaving Molly for a few nights and her cats did not seem to bother or care that there was another dog there! Overall, highly recommend and wishing that I found them sooner before their move!

We have a baby gate that separates the back of the house - the kitchen and Patrick's sitting room - from the rest of the house. Presto's food and kennel are in the sitting room and there is plenty of space for another kennel, if needed. There is also a large deck through a sliding door off of the sitting room that accesses the backyard. This makes it very easy to let Presto out in the morning and Patrick takes her on a walk before bedtime. The deck also has a baby gate so I can let the dog outside without having to worry about her running off. Half of the yard is fenced in and the other half of the yard is marked by a row of plants and shrubs. Presto is very good about staying in her yard and knows where she's allowed to go. Again, I am very respectful of other people's homes and pets since I am part of Trusted House sitters and have positive reviews. I would be happy to forward you a screenshot if you are interested in booking with me.

Information Sara C. would like to know about your pet
What are their typical characteristics? Couch potato, outside dog, needs stimulation, etc. How do you communicate with your pet? What are signs of them misbehaving? Or what is not allowed in your home / interactions with your pet?
A typical day
Presto and I usually go for a long walk in the mornings - about 45 min - 1 hour around the neighborhood. We are close to the CT river and there are plenty of open spaces that I can take Presto to throw a ball or let her off-leash. The area is very safe and quiet - there are plenty of sidewalks, parks, and side streets to walk Presto on. If I am taking care of your pup, I am happy to learn about their typical routine and to follow their lead. If I am working with a senior dog or a dog with special needs, I am happy to accommodate!
