Happy dog, happy life!

Pet care experience

I have always been a huge animal lover, especially dogs! I’ve had one since I was 12 years old. I recently got a kitten too. She’s the most laid back easy going cat I’ve ever met. I don’t feel like myself without my pets. I guess it’s just meant to be! My favorite dogs are the herding breeds. They’re beautiful, smart & lots of fun to train & interact with! The dogs I’ve had over the past 30+ years have all been rescues. My daughter & I currently have Riley, a 4 year old Australian Shepherd mix. We adopted her when she was 6 months old. She's extremely funny & very “talkative”. We enjoy going to dog parks & local events together, so she is well behaved & socialized. I bring her just about everywhere with me. I get a lot of satisfaction from people telling me what a great dog she is! I’ve enjoyed training my dogs in obedience, agility, and shy/reactive dog classes. I also have experience with wound care & giving injections as well as oral meds with both cats & dogs. So if your pet has any special needs or medical conditions I am confident I’ll be able to take care of them. I feel I'm the best choice for you & your dog(s) mostly because of my experience but also because I am usually home most of the day so I am able to spend lots of time with my pets (and yours). I will treat your "baby" with as much love & patience as I do my own. My dog will definitely play a lot with your dog so it will be tired & happy for you. My cat LOVES Riley & plays with her every waking moment. She’s really a cool kitty! However, she’s never had a negative experience with a dog so she doesn’t know that some dogs may not like her, which can be a bad thing if I am watching your dog in my home. So, if I am boarding your dog it will need to like cats too, or at least be tolerant of them. Izzy is very social so she never hides for more than a few minutes. Please be honest with me about this so everyone is safe. I can always watch your dog in your home if you are unsure about how they will behave around either of my pets. I know some people don’t like the idea of having someone they may not know well stay in their home but I believe it’s actually best for your pet. They can relax and be their true selves when in their own home, making them much more comfortable in your absence. Of course your home will be in the same condition it was when you left if not better. I can also water your plants etc if needed. Plus nobody will even know you are gone, keeping the house safe from break-ins.

Sandy was great with our dog, Sunshine. It was so nice having her in a home setting, where she got one on one attention. Sunshine was contented when we picked her up. We highly recommend Sandy. We will definitely consider her again for our next vacation.

Sandy caresd for our dog as if our dog were her own. Sandy is kind and understands how to work with dogs. We will hire Sandy again and we’re kucky to find her. Sandy sent pictures, videoss and updates about how our dog was doing.. You are in good care with Sandy. Sandy’s dog is an Australian Shepherd the sane breed as our dog. So, they played very welltogether. Strongly recommend Sandy as your dog sitter.

My #1 rule for boarding your dog in my home is that they are crate trained. I need to feel comfortable leaving your dog crated if I need to leave the house. You never know how a dog will behave when alone in a home they aren’t used to. Plus it makes your dog feel safe also. I prefer dogs under 60 pounds but, if you have a larger breed & they walk nice on the leash & have good manners I'll take them. A super high energy dog would probably not be best for me. I need to know how your dog(s) are with people & other dogs. Housebroken? What is their feeding & typical bathroom schedule? Are they afraid of anything? If yes, what can I do to help them? Did they ever bite or fight? What were the circumstances? What can I do to make sure I don't put them in a position where that could be a problem? I wouldn't want them to feel insecure.

A typical day

My favorite things to do with my dog are going to a lake for a swim or hike & visiting dog parks together. We also enjoy attending local dog friendly events and street fairs. And of course....car rides! I bring my dog with me as often as possible. I think training is the best way to build a solid & loving relationship with your dog. Whether you are teaching obedience or fun things like agility. I've learned quite a bit about obedience training over the years as well as agility & shy dog classes. Boundaries are important to make them feel safe & secure. Who knows, maybe I'll teach your dog something new while you're gone!
