"Dogcation Heaven with Heart"

Pet care experience

This is a happy home with my foster dog, Kobi, showing your dog all the best toys, where the treats are hidden, and how to romp in the cul-de-sac! I'm fostering Kobi on behalf of the animal rescue organization Gepda Rescue US. I also volunteer at the Santa Clara County Animal Shelter in San Martin, CA. I have over 18 years of experience taking care of other people's pets as well as my own. I make sure that all animals that I am caring for are comfortable, safe, and have a place to cuddle. I offer home boarding, drop-in visits, and dog walking. For dog walking, I prefer small- to medium-sized dogs (20-40lbs). For boarding, I take medium- to large-sized dogs (40-100lbs). I also do drop-ins for any size dog and also for cats :-) Ranch is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy who is currently enrolled in obedience training with Gavilan Kennel Club. We are working on his manners in order for him to obtain a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification. When not working on our obedience training, he and I make bi-monthly visits to a senior community center and to a children's psychiatric facility. I work part-time outside the home (I'm a mom taxi) but Ranch will keep your pup company when I'm not there. We will have several repeat Rover and private dog sitting clients including Boris - a well-mannered German Shepherd who can't control his "licker", JackJack - 4 yr old Chocolate Lab who is a huge bundle of energy and very mischievous, and Lucky and Bailey, two wonderful Goldendoodles; sometimes human visitors will come and stay for several days. The dogs live in the living room while the human visitors stay upstairs in their own suite. Well-mannered dogs are welcome to stay here providing that all vaccines, monthly heartworm & flea/tick medications are given regularly. Your dog must be housebroken. Your dog will "go potty" by using the doggie door in the garage to access the dog run - Ranch will show her/him just where they can go. We live in Morgan Hill and there is a terrific very large dog park to romp in. Try us, you'll like us!

I highly recommend Sandi for your dog sitting needs. She is a great fit supporting our elderly special needs dog. We appreciate the job she did.

My dog Bella (13) spent almost two years between the SPCA and a facility that specializes in older dogs, so after that much time in a kennel, she really FREAKS OUT big time in a kennel, which eliminates the option of boarding. She is also very skittish around strangers. The last time I went on a trip she went on a hunger strike for almost a week. On top of these two problems, she now has Cushing’s disease as an added challenge, and needs medication twice a day. So, getting the “right” sitter was extremely important. Turns out Sandi was an awesome “dog whisperer!” within two days Bella allowed her to pet her. Sandi came twice a day for over a half hour each time and sent a fairly detail summary every time, complete with pictures. I would HIGHLY recommend her!

Information Sandi D. would like to know about your pet

For boarding purposes, I accept all dog breeds size 40 lbs and up. For walking requests, I prefer smaller dogs, 20-40 lbs. The information I need to have about the dog is: 1. Up-to-date on all vaccinations, heart worm and flea/tick medications? 2. Crate trained? 3. Allergies? 4. Separation Anxiety? 5. Negative Reaction Triggers? (squirrels on fence, knocking on door or ringing door bell) 6. Behavior Issues? (jumping on people, guarding resources, barking) I require all clients to contact their veterinarians and leave an letter authorizing me to seek and provide medical care if needed AND your guarantee that you will be responsible for all medical costs.

A typical day

As previously mentioned, Morgan Hill has a wonderfully large dog park that is divided into small dogs and large dogs sections. There is plenty of room to romp, shade trees, fresh running water and occasionally, a baby wading pool to play in. We also visit two small neighborhood parks that are close to my home and are great places to play. At bedtime, the living room becomes doggie heaven, with large comfy pillow beds to sleep on, access to lots of water in the kitchen and 24/7 access to the dog run -the potty place - via doggie doors. If I have a nervous dog staying over, I'll leave the TV on with relaxing music to lull the dogs to sleep.
