Raised on a ranch in Colorado, animals have always been an important part of my life. Dogs, cats, and horses became family members and constant companions. As I went onto city life later, I owned various breeds of dogs and cats. For several years, I also assisted my daughter when she was breeding and raising Am Staffs. Quite recently, Callie, my best piti bull ever passed away, leaving me without a pet for perhaps the first time in my life. She required a great deal of care in her elder years, including a regimented medical diet and meds with frequent walks. Her absence is quite a lonely presence. While undecided about getting another dog, I would love to enjoy the companionship of dogs on a caregiving basis.
