I trail run with high energy dogs!
Pet care experience
I work as a guide in Denali National Park all summer. I am currently available full-time until May. I have taken care of dogs of all types and am willing to stay at your home with your couch potato retired racing dog or take your super high-energy dog for trail running adventures. I am an outdoor trail enthusiast and would be happy to have your energetic husky or border collie partner up with me. Dogs need to run and the winter is the best time for it (assuming reasonable weather). I get my exercise in and your dog is pooped and happy at the end of the day! I have taken care of many dogs throughout my life (some with special needs) for friends, family, and acquaintances. I also use to volunteer at local animal shelters when I was working in Pennsylvania. I currently have a wonderful Black Lab retriever mix who is one of the joys of my life. My fiance, Kira (our lab), and I just recently returned from a 2-month road trip across the country. Happy to meet with you anytime to set a regular schedule or be available to run over for a last minute dog walk/run.

My little Chihuahua, "Booger" can be a handful. She is old, mostly deaf, and blind, and like most Chihuahua's she's fussy. All that being said, she LOVES Sam; that about sums it up.
We’ve had the pleasure of using Sam as a dog and house sitter for our lovable, but needy chihuahua on numerous occasions. He always gave thorough care and provided us peace of mind that our pet was in good hands. We would highly recommend him to anyone seeking high quality personal care for their previous pooch!
Sam has watched both our furry children, Penny & Captain, on multiple occasions. He loves our dogs just like they were his own - and we know that because of how well he takes care of his own dog, Kira. They say dogs reflect their owners and if so, Sam is one of the sweetest owners around as Kira is such a sweetie! You'll be lucky to snap Sam as your pet sitter!
Sam is an animal whisperer! In my many years knowing him, I’ve never seen him come across a dog or cat he couldn’t connect with. His gentle temperament, kind heart, and vast patience makes him a natural with critters big and small. He takes the welfare of animals in his care extremely seriously and will always go above and beyond to not only ensure their safety and comfort, but their happiness as well. I have trusted him with my dog (aka. my baby) many times and have never once doubted that she was in the best of hands.

Basic knowledge of the dogs temperament, eating habits, bathroom schedule, required activity, and behavior around other dogs and humans are all important things to discuss.
A typical day
Depending on what your dogs interest and activity level is I am happy to play fetch with them in the backyard, take them on walks through the neighborhood, or have some extra fun trail running through local parks or the mountain preserve.
