I understand every dog is unique

Pet care experience

I was blessed to have grown up in a household that not only took in strays, but rehabilitated them for new, loving families. I have delivered three different litters, two from my personal pet and one from a friend's pet. Dogs and their ever-positive attitudes have helped me better appreciate life, and how short it is. They can be our best friends, our four-legged therapists, our reasons to get up in the morning, and our daily reminders that a happy life is one best lived with a furry companion. While it goes without saying that every breed is different, even those from the same litter develop their own personalities and quirks. Understanding these quirks, and making sure each individual dog is comfortable, is something that comes naturally to me. Meeting a dog for the first time is always a gratifying experience, but nothing beats meeting them a second time and seeing their faces light up as they recall who I am, and the wonderful time we shared together.

Information Samuel D. would like to know about your pet

Any medication that must be administered, as well as the proper dosage. If the dog is in poor health, a detailed list of all of his or her symptoms, and what best makes them comfortable. I love any and all breeds, but have primarily dealt with larger breeds (Rottweilers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Shar Peis)

A typical day

After the meet and greet, I feel that the best way to get to know a dog is to let it show me around the house/backyard. It's important for the dog to know that I'm a guest in it's house, and that I'm not impeding on it's territory. Rigorous exercise for those that are able and willing. A good night's rest comes naturally if the dog has been allowed to work off some steam. If the dog(s) are older, nothing beats a good belly rub and some time lounging about. A bathroom break every 1-2 hours, depending on how recently the dog has went. Treats, although never more than is needed, will be given for good behavior.
