13 yrs. Experience with Dogs

Pet care experience

I’ll be unavailable for met and greets on Thursdays until the beginning of June. My apologies for any inconvenience. I have about 13 years experience with dogs of different ages, sizes, breeds, and capabilities from caring for my own dogs and sitting for other dogs, but I have a weight and age limit for dogs I sit for. I’m able to sit for one dog at a time, unless there are 2 dogs from the same household. Most of my experience is with small adult and senior dogs. One of my dogs had severe patellar luxation and wasn’t able to use stairs, he used a wheel chair sometimes on bad days, and my other had a heart condition, very poor eyesight in her remaining eye, and dementia during her last few months. My puppy I have now also has issues with her back legs. I’m able to give oral medication, ear drops, and eye drops. Thorough and detailed written instructions on medications and feeding times, amounts, and doses are needed to be sent with during booking. I also have experience with cats, tropical aggressive/semi aggressive/peaceful fish, baby chicks/ducks/turkeys, and some experience with rodents like guinea pigs/hamsters/bunnies. I’ve had volunteer experience in a dog salon and animal shelter. I’m able to bathe, dry, and brush your pups if wanted/needed at no extra charge, if they require a special shampoo/conditioner please let me know, and please send it with during their stay. I have an assortment of brushes and combs, so you don’t need to worry about packing any, unless you’d prefer your pups to be brushed with their own brushes/combs (brushes and combs will not be shared with other dogs), that’s totally okay too. I am not a trainer, but have some experience with dog agility training, and basic obedience (sit, lay down, stay, leave it), so I can help maintain those cues during their stay. I have a 3 and a half year old Affenpinscher, and she loves making new doggy friends to play with. *NO PRIVATE bookings. ALL bookings MUST be made through the Rover website/app/company. ALL updates (photos and messages) during booking will be sent through the Rover app. as well. *I do all of my meet and greets at the same location, the Grand Trunk/Lauderdale off leash dog park, in the small dog fenced area. I require a meet and greet for ALL NEW clients. *Please provide veterinarian information as well, such as name/location/address and phone number. I’m happy to provide reference upon request. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to send me a message. (:

Samantha provided great care for our mini schnauzer while we were away. We received daily updates about her activities and were do happy to see that that has made some new pet (& human) friends. I wouldn’t hesitate to use her services again! Thank you Samantha!

Always easy to book with and truly cares about providing comfort for our dog and us. Provides updates regularly. Pretty sure Mojo misses all the attention when we take her home.

Safety, trust & environment

Due to my medical condition, for my own safety, and as well as my clients and their doggy parents safety, all of COVID protocols will be staying in place until further notice. - Doggy parent, anyone in dogs household, or anyone that parents have been in contact with before booking and meet and greet must not be showing absolutely any symptoms, even if mild. - Masks optional. - Hands must be washed/sanitized before drop off and pick up. - Hands must be washed/sanitized before meet and greet. - Doggy Parent must only come into entry way of home. - All doggies belongings will be washed and disinfected immediately on arrival, (not responsible for any damages the cleaning could cause.) - Doggies will be bathed immediately after drop off, no exceptions (no extra charge for bath, and I have my own dog shampoo and conditioner), if doggy requires special shampoo/conditioner please bring it with, and please inform me of any allergies they may have to shampoo/conditioner ingredients. - I’m unable to do in home stays (where I stay in a clients home for the duration of the booking) and drop ins in clients homes, until further notice I have a fully fenced backyard, and monitor all doggy’s while they are in the backyard. If you’d like your doggy to be crated at night and/or when left at home, please provide their own kennel/crate, I do have a couple spare kennels, but dogs often feel much more comfortable in their own kennel. I send photos and updates of your doggy to you, but you’re welcome to message to check in as much as you’d like. For safety precautions all collars are only worn while we are on a walk or in the backyard (I monitor the entire time). Collars are taken off at night and if I need to step out of the house for a bit.

Information Samantha V. would like to know about your pet

I require at least 3 days notice before a booking, and I also require at least a 2 days notice before a meet and greet, a meet and greet before every new client is required. Please send doggy with these belongs: - A proper fitting harness (I do have 2 xs size harnesses in case harness is forgotten). - Collar with tags, unless their tags are attached to their harness, that’s fine too. - I have lots of different length leashes in case leash is forgotten. - I have plenty of toys, beds and blankets, but if doggy would be more comfortable with it’s own belongings, please send them with (toys, beds, and blankets will not be shared with other dogs, and are all washed between uses). - I have lots of bully stick bones, but if doggy would prefer bones from their house, that’s okay. (I always monitor extremely closely while dogs are chewing bones, but please let me know if you do not allow your dogs to have bones, so I can make sure all the bones are put away where the dog(s) can’t get at them. Bones won’t be shared between dogs unless dogs are from the same household). - If they have a kennel/crate, please bring it along. Dogs are more comfortable having their own space to go to if they feel like they need to. - Must provide WRITTEN detailed instructions on feeding and medication amounts/doses and times of day to ensure medicine is given correctly and food at proper times and amounts. Dogs must be: - House broken (no pee pads). - Must be spayed or neutered. - Gentle with other dogs with medical issues, and dogs that are smaller. (My dog has issues with her back legs, so she is sore sometimes and can easily fall over or get pushed over by accident with playful dogs). - Dog must have no aggression or resource guarding (food, toys, bones, etc.). - Must be showing no signs or symptoms of Kennel Cough OR respiratory infection, even if mild, such as a runny nose or small cough, as it is highly contagious between dogs! (Please keep in mind that Kennel Cough is ALWAYS a potential risk during boarding and daycare at any facility or home, even at dog parks. Even with my own cleaning between clients, there is still always that small CHANCE of exposure, so clients must be aware of that, as the sitter CAN’T be held liable. That’s why I require all dogs to have the kennel cough vaccine.) - Must be up to date on their vaccinations (I may ask too see vaccination certificate): - Parvovirus - Distemper - Canine Hepatitis - Rabies - Kennel Cough - Flea AND tick prevention

A typical day

- I have a fenced yard where I can monitor at all times while they’re outside, there is room to run around and play. - There are a few steps on the deck, so if your doggy has trouble with stairs, I can carry them up and down them. - I live near a large field and extra long leashes (I require them to be on leash at all times while not being in a fenced area) which are great for running around. - I have tons of dog beds, blankets, plush toys, bully sticks (buffalo), small tennis balls, rope toys, small frisbees, and petite size Greenie dental chews, but if you’d feel more comfortable sending with your dogs own bed, toys, and bones, etc., that’s okay. - I normally like to feed them breakfast or supper or just a little snack/treat before going on walks so they have energy. I have a water bottle meant for dogs, so they’ll always have access to water while on a walk. - Due to medical reasons, I may not always be able to take them on walks, but my backyard is plenty big enough for fetch and running around.
