Pet care experience
Ever since I was a child, I have had a passion for dogs and animals of all sorts. Growing up in the Philippines, my relatives found it strange to have such compassion for animals. I'd always begged my parents for a dog while doing avid research and volunteering at pet-related jobs to prepare myself if my dream was to come true. When I was 17, my parents finally agreed to get a dog-- but not just any dog. I wanted my dream dog: an Alaskan Malamute. Huge, stubborn, and a daily shedder, it was a huge challenge I took on myself. However, this Malamute was well trained, house-broken, and friendly. I believe I can take care of a dog of any size, temperament, or history. I am a graduate from the University of Illinois in Chicago with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. I currently work as Clinical Research Coordinator in Skokie. I volunteered at the Chicago Canine Rescue downtown where we play and walk with shelter dogs. I have copious experience with boarding, walking, and overall loving dogs. As a past dog boarder, I understand the care and attention that just be given to a pup to create a trusting bond with them. Samantha was wonderful with our 2 year-old Golden. She was very professional and accountable. She stayed at our house with Kai for 3 nights and took great care of him. We got daily updates and the best pics! Kai got plenty of exercise and was a happy pup when we came home. Thanks Samantha!
Samantha is a terrific dog sitter. My dogs love her, they get lots of love and playtime, and the house is neat and clean when we get home.
Samantha is incredible with my challenging pup! I couldn’t ask for anyone more suited to take care of him. She stayed in my home and cared for Mickey and treated my home with respect. I am so happy to have found someone so trustworthy. Thanks Samantha!
Our family engaged Samantha to dog/house sit while we were out of town for a week. Samantha was a terrific! She was wonderful with our dog - making sure to walk her and schedule playdates so that our pup was exercised and engaged. Samantha sent us regular updates which helped us with our own separation anxiety from our precious pup! She is smart, reliable and confident in her ability to handle our dog who is a large breed dog. We highly recommend her and would use her again!

I adhere as closely as possible to the pet’s existing schedule— routine is key! Other than that, if you are comfortable with it, I can take your dog on forest walls, dog parks, the dog beach, or on play dates with my own dogs!
Information Samantha L. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know about the dog's history. Is the dog alright walking on a leash? Does he or she bark when hearing sounds/left alone? (This is very important.) Is the dog food aggressive? Do thunderstorms frighten the dog? No breed preference.
A typical day
We will go on walks around the neighborhood as well as parks. On occasion, if the weather permits and a dog is okay with car-rides, I will take dogs to forests or beaches. I have brought dogs we have boarded to the zoo, downtown, and even Starved Rock State Park! I believe that dog sitting should not consist of having a dog sit at home and be walked-- the dog should also be having his/her own vacation as well which includes a lot of socialization, attention, and new experiences. In addition, basic training repetition is something I feel is very important for bond and development of any dog. I have once taught a dog we were boarding a new trick!

Availability
Right now working full time, I’d only be available for full day care Fridays-Sunday. I’ve had others make arrangements where they have a walker come in once midday.
