Pet care experience
When I think back to my first memory, it’s of our family Jack Russell when I was quite young. He was a very patient, gentle dog who was very smart and most of my childhood memories include him since he was my best friend. I’m so grateful to have had such a wonderful introduction to animals in such a loving, formative way. I’ve always felt comfortable around dogs and enjoy interacting with them. I love meeting all kinds of dogs. Dogs have unique personalities and moods just like people! I have had two great family pets over the years and when I was in college, I found my little fur baby Sammy, an adorable Beagle, Jack Russell, and Dachshund mix. Yes, my name is Samantha and my dog was named Sammy––I’ve actually had several raised eyebrows when making introductions––but he came into my life when he was just one; a family couldn’t take care of him and I decided to take him in and kept the name they gave him. I can’t imagine the last decade of my life without Sammy by my side. Sammy has since passed way and I have Brady and Jules whom are rambunctious pups. Being a fur mom gives me an immediate connection to caring for other dogs, and I use Rover for my own pet sitting needs, so I like the idea of paying it forward and back. My parents and brother have purebred Dachshunds named Cali and Whiskey. I work from home full time so my schedule is pretty flexible with a day or two notice. I keep my calendar up to date pretty well. I like to do meet and greets to get familiar with your pets in their environment and to find out where their items are and how to operate in your home.

Samantha is awesome! She took really good care of my two dogs and was very attentive. My pets were very comfortable around her. I definitely trust her to watch my fur babies. Will be booking with her again!
Samantha is great with our dogs! Excellent communication and professionalism. She shows compassion and is very caring. Our usually stand-offish female warmed up to her after only one visit! We will definitely book with her again!

Information Samantha C. would like to know about your pet
I don’t have any breed preferences, but I like to know the age and personality of your dog before I do any sitting. Meet and greets are always valuable to meet you and your dog and get a chance to get a feel for their environment and personality. I am very respectful and responsible when taking care of someone's dog. I follow instructions, and will treat your home and pet with the utmost respect. I enjoy loving on pets and giving them lots of attention and affection. I’m also very reliable and always come through when I have made a commitment to someone so they don't have to worry about me backing out which is very important. I believe prompt and clear communication is a must when working with dogs. I want my clients to know I am trustworthy, consistent and reliable. I ask appropriate questions to best serve my clients so I am prepared to give the best service possible. I take pictures and update how the visit went so the owner knows what happened. I also like to give lots of treats. Not all dogs (including mine) is into toys or games so I will tailor my interactions with what the dog enjoys. Sometimes they just like attention and cuddles, others like to play toss for awhile, etc. Usually dogs feel very comfortable around me and open up quickly.
A typical day
I will walk your pup for the length and distance you desire. I can also make time to play and feed your dog as well. Some have a lot of energy that need to run around and some like to just sit and get some attention and rub downs. I usually ask the owner what the dog’s preference is on walking such as what route, how long, style of walking, etc. Many times a dog will lead you where they usually go anyway. I don't typically take a dog away from their home environment such as to a dog park unless the client specifically discusses it with me. That can be stressful for a dog and sometimes dangerous if they don't handle it well. I always want to keep the dog happy and safe.
