Bark and Breakfast

Pet care experience

Good day! My boyfriend and I live in a dog friendly studio loft apartment. We have an open dining and living area connected to the kitchen. There is an open area where the dogs go potty and a fenced area where they can also go potty. We allow pups on the couches with a blanket down (unless you don't) and upstairs is off limits until bedtime. We don't allow pups on the bed and have some spare room for them if necessary. If you crate your pup at night, please bring your crate; if you have a doggie bed that your pup uses, please bring that with you. My dog, Cinnamon, has a wonderful mother-like temperament, loves meeting new dogs, and can adjust well to nearly any situation. She is a rescue and is timid around people she doesn't know and isn't aggressive. We can schedule a meet and greet for your pup(s) and mine. She doesn't get table scraps or human food (aside from the occasional half slice of cheese). We also have five Ferrets! They don't mind the dog and Cinnamon doesn't mind them.. Too much! We frequent Slater Dog park in Pawtucket so you can rest assured knowing your pooch will be pooped upon reunion! As for minor training, I do offer it. Being a rescue from the South, Cinnamon didn't have any training, including where to go potty. She was approximately a year old when we got her and there were many things I trained her to do in relatively short time. I don't yell at dogs and I don't command them. We work together as a team, I request an action and they receive a reward. I use friendly conditioning when training. I have experience in minor and major medical issues/situations including but not limited to administering medication. For example, Cinnamon likes to try and eat bees... She's had heartworms; she was screened for it prior to adoption and the results were negative, even after being on a regular schedule with Heartgard, they still developed. That treatment was over a course of months and required her to stay inactive. She's had "swimmer's tail" from hitting her tail on the corner of some cabinets after getting excited. Medical and physical, minor and major, dogs and Ferrets, I have experience. If you have any questions about our home, dog, ferrets, training, exercise, or experience with anything, please, feel free to message me! We had originally put in an application for being a foster parent for Cinnamon, we had a home visit and interview, and passed with flying colors! They don't let just anybody take in their pups, those poor dogs have been through enough. We took her in on the day of the Marathon Bombing in Boston. We even had to cross the marathon itself to get to our car. I like to think if it wasn't for fostering her, we may not be here. After a few weekends of her not getting adopted (due to distrust of people) we decided she was our dog, and she already new she found her forever home. Why I love dog sitting: I personally have been a lover of all animals my whole life. My mom was always very allergic and feared dogs. As soon as I had my own place, I adopted my very own first pet, Noodle! Noodle was just about a year old when I found her tiny little self posted on Craigslist. A few months later, my boyfriend adopted two more! They were 5 and 6 years old. Truffle passed at age 8, and Donatello at 9. They met and exceeded life expectancy! So, not just dogs, all critters! Feathered, furry, fluffy, or scaly! I also love animals enough to do my own extended research on an array of species and breeds. Meet my pets: Cinnamon, the weary cuddle bug. Diego, Heloise, Noodle, Frank, and Beans! All five ferrets have their own personalities. All my fluffies get along, too! My experience administering medication. Yes and no. I am not certified in phlebotomy, so I wouldn't be comfortable with using a needle (with the exception of an EpiPen).

Samantha, my girlfriend, is a caring and attentive dog lover and our Catahoula Leopard, Cinnamon, will tell you the same. From far before we adopted Cinny, to this day, Sami has been constantly challenging herself to be a better animal caregiver. From reading books and magazines to one on one conversations with the professionals, she doesn't stop, you can trust your fuzzies with her!

Easily the most caring and attentive animal lover I've ever met. Her own dog -a rescue- is incredibly happy and well behaved; a testament to Samantha's patience and skill. Your furriest family member (apart from that one uncle) couldn't be in better hands.

Samantha is the best person you could have sit your dog. She is a very compassionate person with any animal. This isn't just a side job for her it's what she loves to do. I wouldn't trust anyone else. Samantha is the best.

Sam has puppy-sat for me in the past, she was very caring and attentive to the needs of my dog. Not only did she walk my dog and clean up after her, Sam brushed her, played with her, and taught her a new trick (spin, it's very cute). Sam also cleaned my cats' litter box, I didn't even ask her to do that. My dog still gets overly excited to see Sam. No one has cared for my pets better.

No breed preferences. Can I take my dog with me? What do you feed them, when, where, how? Do they have a potty schedule? Any treats they prefer or can't have? Do they get along with other dogs? How are they with other animals? Can I take them to a dog park? Are they good in a car? Do they share well? Neutered/spayed? What is/isn't off limits? Any medical problems? And behavior problems?

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks: We have these great walking paths behind the Cumberland Library, It's not too far of a drive. We have a gentle leader for Cinnamon because she pulls so much, please let me know if they're a good walker! If not, I can always tucker them out at the dog park! Your dog's sleeping arrangement In our bedroom with us but not on the bed, or downstairs on a couch. In a crate, or out, is your choice. Time I'll spend with your dog Constant! Aside from needed trips to the store, I'll spend the whole day with them! Time I'll spend with your dog That depends on your schedule and mine. If I have clients scheduled, I'll have to take the dog(s) to my place. As for now, I only have weekends open. In the future, when this can replace my current job, we can work out a good schedule for you, me, and my other clients. Feel free to message me with a request! Extra house-sitting services Absolutely! Depending on what the extra task is, I will charge extra (e.g., windows, floors, etc... Extra labor, extra charge).
