Specializing in reactive dogs!

Pet care experience

Hello my name is Samantha, but you can call me Sam! Right now I do work full time, but on the side I train dogs of all sizes, shapes and breeds. My specialty is working with owners on leash reactivity and pulling. I own a dog of my own who is dog selective and leash reactive, we have been a team for 4 years now and our loose leash walking is one to behold. I work with my dog in agility and scent work as well as formal training on the side. I understand how stressful owning a reactive dog can be and have become an expert in management and dog body language and behavior. I would be happy to speak with you more about your dog and how I can help you with walks, dog sitting, or some training on the side. I cannot wait to meet your dog and give you peace of mind!

Samantha would make a wonderful dog walker. Her caring and compassion for animals (especially dogs) makes her the perfect candidate for this position. She treats animals with the love and respect they deserve, She will go above and beyond to make sure the dog that she is walking has had plenty of exercise, plenty of water, and a comfortable bed to go back to when she is finished with the walk. Samantha has watched neighborhood dogs while the owners are away, and is very responsible and reliable to make sure the dogs have food and water, and the house is safe upon her arrival and departure. She will spend extra time with the dogs to keep them company.

Safety, trust & environment

Directions, Directions, Directions. You know your dog best. Please leave as many detailed directions as possible for me and tell me everything you think I need to know about your dogs behavior (I want all the quirks). Dogs that I walk or watch will never experience the following: leash to leash interactions with any dog, dog parks, off leash activities (unless you have a backyard). My own dog will always be kept separate from yours at all times. Because I work mostly with reactive or selective dogs, management and safety are absolutely always top priority. I also offer a sniffspot option for clients, where we can take a long lead or go to a fully enclosed area for extra protection during enrichment and exercise.

Information Samantha G. would like to know about your pet

I want to know every detail that you would be willing to share with me about your dog. But here are the important things. 1. How does your dog react to seeing/hearing other dogs. Does your dog pull on the leash, bark, re-direct onto the owner? 2. How does your dog react to seeing/hearing other people/children. 3. Does your dog have barrier aggression, handling sensitivities, resource guarding of space, food, water? 4. What are your dogs normal sleeping habits. 5. What are your dogs eating habitats? 6. What are commands that your dog knows well and what are things you are working on.

A typical day

A tired dog is a good dog. And this doesn't just mean physically. Of course your dog will get many walks (if that is what your dog can do). But my favorite things to do with client dogs is small trick training sessions and brain work. Got a hyper active dog? Lets put their nose to the ground and get them sniffing for their kibble in the grass. Got a dog who loves to jump? Lets go to a playground (off hours of course!) and work on some city agility! I have many puzzle toys and special training toys like a flirt pole and sniff matts, that we can work on together with your dog to improve their brain function and make them nice and tired!
