Pet care experience
I have a lifetime of experience being around dogs and working in the dog industry. I am comfortable handling dogs with behavioral issues and/or special needs and I know how hard it can sometimes be to find someone to petsit a dog like that. I am more than happy to continue working on whatever training you have in place with your dog already while you are away. I have a border collie at home and have a special place in my heart for the herding breeds. I will petsit just about any dog but I truly enjoy being around the clever, energetic ones that need more stimulation than the average dog.

I greet all dogs respectfully and do my best to nurture a calm and positive response from my canine clients. Regardless of what is in place already, I usually train dogs to sit for me when getting leashed up and to wait nicely when the door is opened until we step out. If a dog is a leash puller I will usually do some engagement and leash walking exercises to help create better leash manners. I care for client dogs as I would my own dog.

A typical day
During the hot summer months I like to get off the cement and tar as much as possible. Walks in the park can also provide a more peaceful and enriching enviroment for dogs, especially those that do not like loud noises or vehicles passing. I have an array of puzzle toys that I can bring for dogs to enjoy and if the owner wishes I am more than happy to do some trick training or basic obedience to help wear their brain out as much as their body.

Availability
I have 3 days off in a row from my day job during the week and during those days I either spend it all with my dog or watching other dogs. My own dog stays with a family member if I am petsitting.
