Trusted, experienced walker, dog/house sitter

Pet care experience

I have looked after dogs all my life and professionally for over 12 years from walking, home stays and check-ins. I also have a Chihuahua rescue (she stays with my mum in London when I have dogs stay) that has taken years to train due to abuse she sustained before. My best friend is a vet, who looks after my dog/family dogs, so I have great knowledge and experts to call on. I love walking and running dogs, but also ensuring they are comfortable if they don't like other dogs. I am confident with all dog types and specialise with dealing with needy and abused pets as I have always rescued dogs in need from shelters around the world. I am use to looking after 75KG wolf hounds to tiny 2KG chihuahuas. I look forward to spending time with your furry friend and will be provide a professional, safe and happy experience to ensure your loved one/s are looked after. If you have any special requirements please do let me know and I can be flexible on extending stays or walks to ensure your dog has had the best walk and is relieved. As an avid Rover user myself in the past, I know the high quality care clients are after. I am always respectful of other people's homes and especially their loved family members. Feel free to tell me exactly what your dog likes or spots he or she loves. I am also confident giving medication and lots of love/cuddles and I don't mind a slobbery kiss. I work from home, so your dog/pets will receive around the clock cuddles and whatever you require.

Sam looked after our collie for the past 2 weeks. He is very likeable, easy to get on with and very organised and professional. He came round twice beforehand to walk her and get to know her. She seemed really happy with him and he kept us up to date with photos and videos most days showing us what they had been doing. He left the house clean and tidy. We would be very happy to use Sam again and recommend him to others.

Sam stepped in at quite late notice and allowed us to have our holiday when another sitter booking unfortunately fell through. He is highly experienced and knowledgeable, and cared for our boy so well. We had lots of updates and felt so reassured throughout his stay. Will absolutely be booking again!

An easy 5* review. Our 9 month old Husky loves his daycare stays with Sam! Sam really does go above and beyond caring for our pup, they go on multiple walks a day exploring the city and have puppy downtime relaxing in between. Our husky adores Sam. Sam is so accommodating and prompt with communication. As two busy professionals we find our rotas are so variable but nothing is too much hassle. He has been a life saver on many occasions. We cannot recommend Sam’s services enough. Our pup is already booked in for another stay!

Sam was fantastic, and took great care of our typically boisterous 1 year old lab. He kept us updated with pictures and videos. We will definitely be using him again, and would highly recommend to others!

Safety, trust & environment

This all depends on the dog and their owner. If the dog wants to be in the bed, then I am happy with that. If there are rules about staying in a basket/crate on the floor, continued behavioural training or needs then I adhere to whatever you need. Please let me know the schedule, feeding routines or whatever will make your loved ones stay/care the best, then I will stick to your advice/routine. I believe dogs should just be comfortable, so if they wants cuddles on the sofa, then that’s what they get in abundance. If they want to be left alone, then I just check on them from time to time. I’m used to a 75KG wolf hounds, 30kg mountain dog sitting on me and a tiny chihuahua in the past so it doesn’t bother me. If I am sitting your house then I check everything is locked, secured and that it is obvious someone is still home looking after your house. I am respectful of peoples houses, belongings and your private spaces that I do not enter.

Information Sam D. would like to know about your pet

Is your dog good with other dogs or would you like one on one service? Please let me know if your dog bites so I can keep him or her safe around passers by or children. If you don't like people touching or interacting with your dog please let me know. I honestly don't mind if you tell me where and what time to walk to keep a routine.

A typical day

Let me know if you want me to run with your dog, play catch, if they don't like other dogs or kids etc. I tend to wake up early and go for a walk with whoever stays over or in your local area. We then have breakfast and play with toys, cuddles, films and a calm environment to relax in. Once the dog is settled I tend to check in on emails and set my teams off on their tasks. If your dog just wants to chill, then I’ll read or listen to a calm documentary, film or read my book/s. I am happy to socialise your dog, or avoid dogs/parks and follow whatever advice/guidance you provide me.

I have worked from home for over 8 years now and am always home. If I have a dog, I don’t go out during the day or night. If I do it’s a quick run to the shops or a cycle around Manchester. Please ask as many questions as you like, you need to find the right sitter! Even if I am not a right fit for location or you just want more information, you can message me and I will talk you through the process and what to expect from any sitter/walker/check in.
