Dogs are a part of the family. I like referring to them as furbabies. I've volunteered at various shelters which gave me the opportunity to work with all different kind of dogs. I've helped train and rehabilitate dogs before to find them forever homes. I also have a 10 year old gorgeous red brown golden retriever who weighs 88lbs, and yes when people ask if I have children I do say yes and proudly show them a photo of my big boy, Milo. I love dogs, and believe they should be treated with all the love in the world. Each one is unique, and the key is to finding what works best for our furbabies. I always like to joke that a dog may be a specific breed, but at the end of the day that does not matter. Each one has a personality that shows through either when they nudge you for scraps or sit lazily staring at you after you've thrown the ball. In order to build trust and create a bond between oneself and the dog, one must be patient and figure out what works and doesn't work with a specific dog. I've dealt with reserved dogs, dogs with a hyper prey drive, and dogs that are the opposite of what the breed is typically known for. My go to tactic is to read their body language, and work with that.
