I'm Here for All Pet-Care Needs
Pet care experience
Hi! My name is Sailor and I'm a nonbinary student at UMass Amherst majoring in Social Thought and Political Economy! I have a ton of experience with dogs and cats, having grown up in a multi-pet household and volunteered on and off at animal shelters for a couple of years. When I was younger, I got along with animals better than I got along with people, and so now I am very good at reading and understanding animal body language. I will be fast friends with your dog or cat. Furthermore, I worked an internship at the Berkshire Museum where I was responsible for much of the care of the aquariums and various reptiles and amphibians in the vivarium. So if you have reptiles, amphibians, or fish and need care for them along with your dog or cat - I'm your guy. I am a full-time student and so the flexibility of working with Rover is another one of its appeals. Especially during the semester, my schedule fluctuates wildly, and so I value working closely with clients to make sure the dates and times work for both of us. SAME DAY BOOKING POLICY: Life happens and I understand that sometimes you need a walker or a sitter last minute. That said, at this time I am only able to accommodate same day requests if they are located in Northampton, Amherst, or Florence. Thank you for your understanding. MEET AND GREET POLICY: Because I am a mobility aid user, I will need to do a meet and greet before taking your pup on a walk. I need to be sure that your dog is going to be comfortable with walking around my mobility aid. COVID POLICY: If you have tested positive for COVID within the past ten days or if you are feeling any symptoms of illness, please wear a mask during the meet and greet. I will also be masking if I have tested positive or am otherwise feeling ill. Thank you for your consideration.
Reviews
Sailor was quick to respond to my initial outreach and easy to communicate with throughout the process. They sent updates during their stay and the cat seemed quite happy when we returned home. I would work with Sailor again.
Sailor developed a nice connection with our shy and defensive dog. They came through for us on somewhat short notice and were thoughtful in their approach.
Very dependable house sitting for a week. Our dog was happy, and they have insulin injections to our cat twice a day. Plus the house was pretty clean when we got home.
We were delighted with Sailor's coming to meet and greet and then to take Happy on his walk. We will certainly be booking with Sailor again!

Safety, trust & environment
When house sitting I do my best to keep to whatever schedule your pets already live with, since being cared for by somebody else can be a tough adjustment.
Information Sailor C. would like to know about your pet
I like to know if there are any special needs regarding care. How much your dog gets fed, if your dog needs frequent brushing, if your dog needs medications, any dietary restrictions your dog may have, etc. are all useful pieces of information. I have no breed preferences. I have experience with dogs of all shapes and sizes.
A typical day
I will most likely go on walks that remain in proximity to a client's household. In the event that a dog is able to hike, I may try to find nearby trails and wooded areas. When sitting, I will play fetch with the dog, and also offer fun treat puzzles for if I have to go out. And of course, I will give belly rubs.

Availability
I am in my last semester as an undergraduate student at UMass Amherst. Because of this, my schedule during the week is a bit more limited, but I have fairly open availability on Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends.
