Engineer that gets the job done!

Pet care experience

I grew up around a German Shepard and assisted in feeding him his medication as he grew older. When I entered high school, I convinced my parents to let us raise a chihuahua-mix. As of 2016, my fur baby will be 9 years old, and regularly takes allergy medicine. (When I left LA to go to school in San Diego, my parents graciously agreed to take care of her until I get a place that allows dogs. So currently, I do not have any pets in my San Diego apartment.) During college, I've taken care of friends' dogs, cats, fish, and frogs as personal favors, administering food, social activities, and medicine. My time spent with pets have varied. Some dogs need to be tired out quite a bit, so I will run throughout their entire walk, or I will see if the dog is willing to go on their walk for twice as long (repeat the path). When I took care of fish and frogs, I spend some time dropping in the food and making sure everyone is eating a fair amount, but a lot of the time I spend doing a quick walk around the perimeter to make sure the house/living areas have not been broken into, or making sure nothing has been accidentally left on for an elongated period of time. With cats, some of them like to play and some of them. For those that like to play, I can easily spend over an hour just dangling a feather for them to catch. I feel that I am very in tune to a pet's needs. If they look very hyper and excited when I walk in through the door, I immediately go find a toy of theirs or find their leash to take them out for their walk. If they are very low-key and slow, I will take it very easy, see if they are hungry or in need of more water, or if they just want to cuddle up on the couch. I currently work part time, so I am fairly flexible in the time I am available to drive over to take care of your fur baby/ies.

Sabrina was amazing! She was very communicative, which was extra nice since it was our first time using Rover and was a little nervous. She sent lots of great video and photos and the puppy was so happy and loved. Thank you Sabrina!!!

Information Sabrina T. would like to know about your pet

I like to know if there's a particular treat that they only get for special occasions. Don't worry, I don't fatten them up! I only ask because I don't want to accidentally over-spoil them. But it would be helpful in knowing which treats they look forward to if they perform a particular good trick.

A typical day

If the dog's health allows, I will jog or run with them. I don't ever let them off the leash if we are outside of the home. Tug of war is a particular favorite of mine. I also like to reinforce and practice any skills they know. If there is a dog park nearby (and I have been given the okay to take the dog out), I like to take them out to see their friends! And car rides! If the pet loves car rides, I will happily take them along on a simple joy ride out. I also really like to help brush pets' coats, if they allow it. From my personal experience, all the dogs I've done it to are very relaxed and happy after I brush them.
