Full- Time Pet Friend!

Pet care experience

My name is Sabrina! I joined Rover after losing my Full- Time office job fairly recently and decided to throw my entire life into caring for Animals. I have worked on- and- off with various animals and even had dogs as a child and now have a cat (and a ferret!) I have experience working with all sorts of breeds- such as Pit Bulls, German Shepherds, Maltese, and Goldendoodles. I really just love dogs and have worked at various part time jobs over the years dedicated to caring for them. Honestly, I really just wanted to be helpful and hang out with furry animals. I provide house sitting (live- in caregiver), dog walks (30 and 60 minutes), cat sitting, and drop ins! I know choosing between a drop in and dog walks can be so difficult- so this is what I will say. Typically, my 30 minute walks would start from the moment the dog is on the leash and leaving the house to begin their walk. The entirety of the 30 minutes will be spent going on a walk. Meanwhile, a drop in would start from the moment I go into the home and would include more cuddling, playing their favorite toys, and feeding/ watering. I would more so recommend a drop in for a more cuddlier pet who has less of an interest in walking or for cats! I am incredibly flexible since I do this Full- Time and have chosen to make this a priority in my life. I will spend the majority of the time in your home if booked as a house sitter- likely watching tv, reading, or trying (and failing to crochet). Mostly though, I will be hanging out with your pup- walking, playing, and cuddling to your pup’s content! When I am house sitting, I typically do book about 1-3 walks which means I will be leaving your home for short periods of time (typically only about an hour!) but I am willing to work with you if you’d rather I be in your home the entire duration of the visit. Warning: I will be providing so many photos! I love taking photos of all the dogs and cats that I see during my trips and love giving their parents a peace of mind knowing that they’re okay. As you can probably tell from this long introduction - I am incredibly communicative. I will readily tell you how your pet is doing and will make sure to check in OFTEN and send as many photos as you would want. I am here for your pet and just want to make sure that they’re happy and safe- and that you’re satisfied with my services.

Clearly an experienced hand at dog-walking, Sabrina was friendly, firm and fun. Kabutu adored her. He waited expectantly at the front door and searched the curb for her car. When she arrived (always on time, ready to work, and highly professional) Kabutu was ecstatic. Sabrina was intuitive about Kabutu’s wants and needs, and knew the difference between the two. She exerted appropriate control and offered him praise and encouragement. Most of all, her professionalism, punctuality and skill made my life so much easier. I can’t recommend her highly enough.

I do not board any animals in my home presently - maybe this will be something that changes in the future! But I do provide services in the client's home so let me break that down to you by service! Walks: I will begin the Rover Card from the moment the leash is on your dog and the walking has commenced. I typically try to do the Walk first thing when I arrive because I know the pup has been waiting to go potty. The walk will be for the full 30 minutes and then when we get back to the house - I will always refresh the water and will provide food / treats if requested. I will also clean up any messes if I see them so that you don't have to worry about it. Drop Ins: I would start the drop in from the moment I walk into the home. I will immediately allow the pet outside whether that be for a walk or just back into the yard depending on the owners preferences. While outside, I will do more cuddling and may try to entice the pet into playing with their favorite toys or engaging them in their favorite games. When they come inside, I will always refresh their water and feed if requested. This will be the time that I will do any other request that the owner may have - such as medications, brushing, de-shedding. I do have a de-shedder glove that I use to brush them, they think I'm just petting them but it's actually helping their coat quite a bit or I can use your products. House Sitting: I am incredibly flexible and try to adhere to their regular schedule and any rules/ requests that the parents have for me while I am in their home. In the morning, I would wake up and immediately take the dog for a walk/ let them go potty before bringing them inside to feed them if they are fed in the morning. I try to be respectful while I am in your home - I will wash my own dishes, abide by any dietary restrictions/ rules that you may have for your home, and clean the home. I will likely sweep your home / vacuum before the end of my stay. A lot of this will depend on the dog's needs and desires by the day, as well as their comfortability with me. I do read a lot so that would be the thing I am primarily doing in my spare time.

Please let me know if your dog is potty trained, approved snacks, favorite games, and any behaviors that are unique to your job so that I can ensure that both myself and them are happy and safe.

A typical day

I am all about your dog! While I am in the presence of your pupper - I will do my best to engage in the games that they enjoy playing. I do particularly enjoy fetch! If I learn that they really enjoy running, I will bring them along on my Fitness Journey. I have a membership with Abel's Runner Club where I am participating in the couch to 5k journey through Zombie, Run which is a mix of running / walking. I also have an App called The Walk that is exclusively walking that I will likely bring the dog along to complete. Tug of war is a fan favorite with the pets as they will ALWAYS win.

I have chosen to make Rover my full time job! As a result of this, I have incredibly open availability and the flexibility to work with your requests and desires. I typically try to do about 5-7 walks a day unless I am house sitting then I limit to 1-3 walks during that time. If you would rather I be in your home full- time, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you!
