Reliable, loving, long-time owner.

Pet care experience

I was the proud human for Rilke, a lab mix rescue, for 14 years. And I was a loving human to Oscar, a high-strung border collie rescue, for five years, too. I lost them both in 2019. My current apartment doesn't allow me to own any pets, and without the two of them in my life, I channel all that love into caring for your pets in your home. Mostly, I just miss my two dogs. Here's what you can expect of me as your pet's sitter: - My first priority is that you know your little ones are safe and happy. I keep a pretty tight feeding, walking, meds, and bathroom break schedule (especially if you have one for me to follow). I lock all doors when I arrive and when I leave. Your dog will never be off-leash with me, except in your fenced-in yard. And we avoid getting close to other dogs on our walks. I send at least one pick every day; more if you'd like. And I offer pretty detailed daily recaps for at least our first few days together. - Second, your home will be safe and clean. My goal is for you to arrive home with almost no trace of my having been there. I bring my own food. (I might use some condiments or cooking oil.) No drugs, weed, edibles, etc. while I'm there. No overnight guests. I might, on a rare occasion, have a friend join me for coffee, but only with your permission. I'll strip the bed, wash all the dishes I used, and leave the bathroom as clean as I found it. - I work full-time remotely. That means I'll set up shop at your dining room table or an extra desk if you have one, and work from there. I'm rarely gone for more than 4 hours, and that's generally just to have coffee or dinner with a friend or take in a matinee. Mostly, I'll just be hanging out at your place with your pets. - I don't mind caring for elderly pets or pets with special needs. - I don't have a partner, children, or pets at home, so I'm able to stay for long stretches at your home if that's what you need. - And I'm happy to water your plants, collect your mail and packages, or shovel the walks. I hope this gives you a good idea what you can expect from me. I look forward to continuing to build lasting relationships with my clients. I am happy to answer any additional questions you might have.

Ryan is amazing! He is very responsive in scheduling, he got back to my request right away, and followed up with setting up a meet and greet for that same weekend. My Miniature Poodle Elinor fell for him immediately; when someone gets down on the floor and starts to play with your dog, and they jump all over him, you know everything is going to be just fine! During his stay he took care of all our mail and deliveries to the house, offered to do any watering and set out and brought back in the trash and recycling bins. He responded immediately to my picture requests, and gave me detailed updates on how Elinor was doing. We came home to a very happy poodle, and a clean and tidy house! We will definitely be planning our future travel around Ryan’s availability!

We have a young and energetic puppy, and Ryan was awesome with him. He was extremely flexible with our unique setup and requests for care. Our pup is very impressionable at this age, so we are very careful about who we have looking over him and taking him on walks. We will definitely work with Ryan in the future. Thanks Ryan!

Ryan did a great job starting with my sensitive and anxious pup. He was patient with her warming up period and followed all my requests.

Ryan was amazing with Samwise! He stayed with him while I was on a work trip, and kept me updated the whole time with pictures and notes. He took him on long walks every day, played with him, gave him lots of affection and attention, AND left the house looking great. It was the first time I'd left Samwise for this long other than with family, and I felt completely comfortable with having Ryan there. I will absolutely be reaching out to him for future stays!

Information Ryan T. would like to know about your pet

No breed preferences. Mostly, I'll just ask what I can do for them when they seem to be missing you while you're away. Walks, treats, belly rubs, tug-of-war, baseball on television, etc.

A typical day

I try to maintain whatever habits the pets' owners have already established. Two walks a day? Done. Twenty minutes of fetch every morning? Done. I like to watch a movie before bed, so there's always a lot of time for chilling out for petting and belly rubs.
