Pet care experience
As Gertrude Stein once said, "I am I because my little dog knows me." I grew up with two wonderful family dogs back in Virginia: Cookie, a blind and deaf 12-year-old pug, and Leonard, a very active and loyal pitbull-lab mix. Recently, my parents rescued a sweet hound named Homer who loves to sing. I love taking care of cats as well, especially if you're okay with me bringing a book to hang out so they can curl up on my lap and purr. I am also happy to look after exotics (snakes, lizards, fishies, birds). What I ask from you is that you provide me with comprehensive care instructions for your animal, be upfront about your critter's behaviors, and allow me to have a meet and greet with both you and your animal so I can see if we'll be a good fit. Please note that I very rarely take same-day requests. Additionally, I typically work from 9-5 Monday through Friday, which might not suit your pet-sitting needs. I live and work in Burlington and I don't travel to the surrounding towns (Shelburne, Williston, Essex Jct, Colchester) for pets who need multiple visits per day; I do make an exception for Winooski, as it's so close. I set these boundaries only in the interest of providing the best and most attentive care possible for my animal clients. I will keep your pets happy and safe, and I will keep you well-updated. Rest assured that I'll treat your furbabies like royalty (which they are-of course!).
Reviews
We use Ryan all the time to watch our animals and she is simply the best. She spends so much time with the animals, which allows us to rest easy on vacation knowing they’re in her hands. Despite rain, snow, and wind she’s always there to take our dogs for walks and cuddle with my cat. We also get updates and pictures daily without ever having to ask for them. Ryan is the best!
Ryan was great with Watson! She sent picture updates each day and Watson was very happy!!!
Ryan did an excellent job watching our exotics (hedgehog and snake) on short notice, even with animals she had not taken care of before. She was also easy to contact, communicative, and sent some nice pictures. I would definitely hire Ryan again.
Ryan did an amazing job with our little guy while we are on vacation. She sent updates and picture to us throughout the week. Would recommend her to anyone.

It is very important for you to tell me if your dog has any aggression issues (food, leash, people, other dogs). Unless a dog is openly aggressive towards me and I fear for my safety, I won't refuse to watch your dog over aggression issues. It is simply in the interest of everyone's safety that I know. I also just like to have a sense of what's normal for your dog in terms of not only their behavior but also their health. Does your dog have a small appetite or would they eat a whole roast chicken off the counter, Christmas Story-style? This lets me know when I should be concerned and contact you and/or their vet. As far as breed preferences go, let's see...well, I love pugs and bulldogs...pitties...rotties...hounds...funny mixes...I just kinda love all the dogs!
A typical day
Usually when I walk a dog they are very clear about what their favorite route is! Like a dog, I also like to drift a bit and explore the world around me, and I spend most of my weekends walking and running around Burlington. I have a few good loops in my repertoire and I love to be outside, especially when the weather is warm and/or sunny. This is something that dogs and I often bond about! I like just hanging out with dogs (and pets in general). If it's okay with their person, I can bring my laptop over and get some work done just so that we can enjoy each other's company. Your dog will get belly and butt rubs, storytime, and will overall be spoiled!
