Caring for dogs is my passion

Pet care experience

My name is Ryan and I am a self described “dog freak”. I spend all my free time with my dog and finding ways to be with more dogs. I have a background in training reactive dogs, basic obedience as well as fostering MANY dogs of all ages. I spent a year walking dogs and house sitting in Brooklyn NY with a well known trainer but learned to train here on the north shore. Before fostering dogs I hospiced cats for a time. I have experience with giving medication and disabled animals (my dog is deaf). I like all my walks to be in the woods for a more engaging experience for the dog unless this is not good for a particular pup. I believe every dog is unique and deserves a routine that is designed to their needs. Not all walks And play are the same for all dogs. I take time and am committed to learning your dogs personality to tailor our time together to be beneficial to them.

Ryan has cared for my dog, Sherman as well as my cat, Tigger and 3 chickens on MULTIPLE occasions. He is always courteous, kind and sends text updates so I can see for myself that my pets are well cared for and content. Ryan is active and enjoys taking Sherman on walks and hikes- he really understands a dog's need to belong and be part of a pack. He keeps Sherman busy enough that he doesn't get overly anxious to see us the second we get in the door after being away. I would recommend Ryan to anyone in need of a pet sitter/walker. You won't be disappointed in his professionalism and your pet will truly benefit from his care.

Ryan took great care of our two dogs. My dogs immediately took to him, so that was an encouraging sign. His knowledge of how to address behavioral issues and his experience fostering various dogs also helped me realize my dogs would be in good hands. Ryan was attentive, quick to respond, and flexible with our requests. He did an amazing job and would highly recommend him!

For all the years I've known Ryan, he's worked in dog rescue, rehabilitation, and training. He's as capable with a small and gentle dog as he is with a reactive 150+lb dog, which is also as capable as he is with a gigantic pack of dogs, whether they all consider one another friends or not! He has absolute confidence and command, and that counts for everything. He's cared for my (four!) dogs when I've had to leave town, and it makes me SO happy to know that with Ryan they're not just *getting sufficient care and attention* - they're the crux of his life! He goes on epic nature adventures with dogs EVERY day rain or shine (ask him to send you pictures and he will!), and has seemingly limitless energy himself so can exhaust even the wildest young pup (and sees it as a pleasure, not a chore). And if he's with an old dog or a dog who otherwise has a difficult time getting around, you KNOW he's gonna carry them in a backpack or in a dog cart towed alongside. No dog has to miss out on the great smells of nature and the joy of adventuring. He's one of the most experienced and capable dog caregivers I've ever known, and if you don't want to take *my* word for it, just let your dog(s) have a little meet & greet with him, and they'll be the ones to beg you to let them see him again!

Ryan was always one of our best fosters at Sweet Paws Rescue. He would always step up to take the more difficult dogs that nobody wanted to foster. He could always get the shyest/most timid dog to come out of their shell while in his care. He really took the time to learn what each dog needed and made sure to get the dogs out and about into the world while making sure it was at a pace that was healthy for the dog. He provided each dog with structure, stability, understand and of course, love. Not only is Ryan dedicated and devoted to his animals, he always treated our fosters like they were his own. He really is one of the only people I would ever trust to care my own dogs. On top of all this, he is a fantastic human being.
