Pet care experience

I have had dogs (Border collies)- and lots more cats in the house since a very young age! 😂 So I know how to handle them well around cats and other dogs. I have been walking someone else's dog every week now these past 5 months. So I've gained experience in handling them and keeping them energetic when out and about. Also, with cleaning up any mess and disposing of it quickly.

I make sure to put the dogs on their leads the minute I enter the persons house. If it's raining outside i try to keep them off the grass, mostly so they don't get too muddy or wet- Which if they are- I make sure to dry them off with a towel provided (Paws and sides so they don't drag marks into the house....). I usually carry some treats- If it's okay with the owner. On occasion, my mother also accompanies me- which makes it easier to look after the dog. For house sitting, I make sure that the Dog/Cats bowl is always filled up with food- as well as their water bowls. And anything else that the owner asks me to do (e.g. Take them for a walk, let then out into the garden, administer oral medication- with clear instructions, certain types of food, stroke them or keep them company for a bit).

Information Ryan F. would like to know about your pet

Any concerns that you might have about your pet (e.g. What they must and must not be fed- out on walks or inside the house). Whether they must be kept in certain parts of the house (e.g. After a dog walk- closing a certain door- or locking doors to separate 1 or two animals from the bedrooms). If the dog needs to be towel dried on re entry to the house (e.g. After a dog walk or having being let out into the garden.) Any important oral medications that the dog or cat might need to be given on house sitting bookings. Or certain amounts of a particular food you wish it to be given.

A typical day

I like to take dogs around the woods- exploring new surroundings and smells- for a nice, relaxing atmosphere. But i try and keep them as close by as possible to the house I also let them run a bit on the lead through the grass-sometimes with them- to keep them happy and energetic. When they react to my voice, I also throw in a few treats (If it's OK with the owner) to reward them for good behaviour. For pet sitting, I let the dogs into the garden for a bit (provided it's not too wet outside)- maybe throwing some balls for them to keep them entertained. Inside the house- using gentler toys to keep their attention. For pet sitting cats, I like to get some toys for them to play with- Some that I can gently throw across the floor (In a safe zone), or toys for the cat to chase after.

I'm not currently working, apart from one dog that i walk for someone twice a week . So I can set specific times and dates weekly- even some on the weekend if needed. Most suitable times for a walk or dog/cat sitting would be 7am- 1 am currently. And I can keep this on going indefinitely- within such a time limit. Extra dog walks/ sittings ( apart from the established routine) can be arranged during the week- hence if you are going out unexpectedly and need the dog walked/cat checked up upon.
