I think I became keenly aware when Ryan was only about 3 years old. While holding hands while walking together, it didn't matter if we walked by a squashed lizard, dead bird, or a dried-up worm in the warm sun, Ryan noticed! Ryan always noticed even the smallest of animals, and especially when that animal was in distressed (or dead). While I just seemed to walk passed un effected, I’d be jerked to a halt while Ryan held my hand, and stopped to examined the animal’s condition (or corpse!). By the time we walked and commuted together to kindergarten, walking through our neighborhood, there were two neighborhood cats along our daily path, that always sought out Ryan (and not me). Ryan would chant, " it's okay kitty . . . it's okay kitty," while gently encouraging the cats to come over for another Ryan morning "kitty-cat petting session" before kindergarten. Ryan grew up from day one with at least one cat, and our dog “Eddie”, a black cocker spaniel. They were all best buddies, and after Eddie passed away, Ryan made a tribute to Eddie in a dance performance in Middle School recital. Welp, little is changed! Ryan now lives in the City, and when we all catch up with each other “Facetiming” over social media, Ryan always asks, “How are the kitties?”, and requires time to spectate while the cats respond to Ryan’s voice via modern technology, from over 100 miles away. And during the course of Ryan’s days in the City, Ryan make time to visit pet stores (sometimes detours to make sure), or roll past a veterinarian clinic, just to get a “pet fix”. Just like you, Ryan loves pets, and Ryan will love YOUR PET, with the attention, vigour, and empathy in which Ryan displayed from that early age, to today. I highly recommend Ryan to watch, walk, feed, and care for your pet! In our household, Ryan was second to none; and your pet won’t be either, in Ryan’s eyes!
