dogs ask for me by name (roof)

Pet care experience

I've had puppies and senior dogs over the course of my 15 years of dog ownership. I regularly watch as 13 yo husky who plays with my two dogs, Dusty (4 yo) a Rhodesian Ridgeback/shepherd mix and Tony (1.5 yo) Rhodesian Ridgeback. Our house is regularly full of pups of all shapes, sizes, and ages and we have become the home where folks know they don't need to ask to bring their pups over. I really love dogs -- all dogs. I rarely meet a dog I don't jive with and even then, I tend to think it's conditioning in most cases. I'm not a dog trainer, just a person who likes to hang with dogs, play fetch, and take them on outdoor adventures.

Ruthie is an amazing person who cares enormously about all dogs. Her only tattoo is the initials ADAG, which, of course, means All Dogs Are Good. Your dog will be in great hands with her, she loves em all!

Ruthie would be my absolute number 1 choice for watching my dog. I don't know many people who love dogs as much as she. Ruthie is patient, incredibly loving, and undoubtedly reliable when it comes to everything in life, especially dogs. She won't just watch your dog and keep he or she alive; she will spend quality time with your dog and make sure he or she has the best vacation ever. Trust that when your dog stays with Ruthie, it will be loved, cared for, and have the time of its life.

Safety, trust & environment

I would not feel comfortable watching a dog that has a tendency to roam/jump fences or is a runner but have a lot of space if a crate is needed and am more than happy to accommodate and my home would not be a good fit for a dog with aggression. Our puppy, Tony, is still figuring things out with new dogs and we are working with him to introduce him to new pups in a positive way.

Information Ruthie S. would like to know about your pet

I do not feel comfortable watching dogs that have a tendency to jump fences or roam and if your dog is staying with us, I'd like to meet them and introduce them to my guys before anything is set in stone.

A typical day

Walking, hiking, running, frisbee, fetch, puzzles, and a household favorite -- hide n seek. It's easy to get our energy if dogs are playful, too. Tony tends to be pretty playful and has got a zest for chasing other dogs around.

I'm working as a substitute teacher a couple days a week and am working on projects around the home otherwise. Our dogs walk once or twice a day and have a huge yard with access via a dog-door. They typically spend their time lounging around wherever I am, but take themselves out as necessary. When dog-sitting other folks' dogs, we let them in and out throughout the day. If I am working, the dogs go out in the morning, at lunch, and in have all evening. The max we would leave the dogs at home on average would be probably 5 hours unless we had a puppy staying with us.
