Hey all! I'm new to the NoVa area. Previously I lived in Hawaii, so it's a bit cold for me, but I am loving it! I live by myself and work about 10 minutes from home, which basically means I can drop by whenever I need to in order for breaks. I have experience with both senior dogs and puppies and a range of ages in between. While in Hawaii, I assisted with fostering for the Humane Society. I would often dog sit for some of my friends. They always remarked about how much their dogs loved me while I watched them! I have been around dogs in one form or another for over 8 years, ever since I was living in Colorado in junior high/high school. I love being around animals, but while I was in Hawaii I was limited to watching other people's dogs and fostering, as the house I was in had two or three dogs already! Now that I'm here, I'm glad to have my own dog and excited to help take care of yours as well!

Ruth is extremely competent and comfortable with dogs. Throughout the stay I knew Bode was in good hands. She is also really great with drop offs and pick ups. She was waiting outside for me when I arrived and had everything ready to go. Thank you!

Ruth has puppy sat my pooch twice now and he loves her. When I went to pick them up on his last stay he actually tried to follow her back into her home! While my feelings were a bit hurt (smile), I'm also pleased to know that he really enjoyed his stay.

Information Ruth W. would like to know about your pet
Unfortunately I can't do dogs larger than 50 lbs per my apartment's rules. Also cannot do any dogs that could be aggressive dog breeds. I would love to, but my apartment complex won't allow it. Hopefully in the future this won't be an issue. Please let me know if your dog has any destructive tendencies or issues with being left alone in the house. My dog is very dog friendly and loves playing with other dogs, but if your dog has any quirks about other dogs, let me know. We can always meet up and see if our dogs get along before their visit. I only take one dog at a time, so your dog is the only one who will be visiting. If your dogs know any tricks, or if you want me to help enforce a certain behavior let me know! I am more than willing to encourage their training! I only do positive reenforcement, so they will be rewarded with love and kisses (and the occasional treat if you're ok with that)!
A typical day
We go for walks at least twice a day around the neighborhood. Once a day we go to the local dog park, so there are plenty of activities for your dog to enjoy! Once it starts warming up then I hope to start doing some of the hikes as well. My dog is completely housebroken so she stays out during the day, however if your dog needs to be crated, I can crate mine as well.
