Big house, yard & lots of love!
Pet care experience
We are a dog-loving family but currently do not have any of our own furry kids, so we have lots of love to give to yours! Most recently, we had a Siberian Husky and an American Eskimo/Husky mix, but have had other dogs/pets throughout our lives. We have a large, multilevel house (part hardwood flooring, part carpeted) in a residential area. Our large backyard is completely enclosed with a solid (no gaps) 6-foot wood fence. It is mainly grass, with a bamboo patch in one corner, some terracing in one area, a shed in one corner, and a covered area by the back door. Because getting to the backyard involves going down a full flight of stairs, dogs who are unused to stairs or have a physical condition that limits their mobility may have trouble. We live on a steep street. If you have a large dog who pulls on the leash and I can not safely walk him/her down the street, exercise may have to be confined to our backyard. There's plenty of space for running around and playing fetch. We have many stretches of quiet throughout the day, but also get busy with friends passing through. If your dog is timid, they may not appreciate the activity level at times. For the well-being of your dog(s), we request some sort of flea control medication. This allows us to keep a (hopefully) flea-free house and avoid sending our canine guests home with "extras." We can care for up to two dogs from one family at a time, but will consider three on a case-by-case basis. We do not mix dogs from different families. We prefer to have a meet and greet with you and your dog(s) in our home before accepting a stay request. And, we are always happy to arrange a meet and greet even if you don't have an immediate need for pet sitting. That way, if you need to make a last-minute arrangement, we'll have already gotten that part out of the way. Experience with dogs: I grew up with Pepper, a Sheltie mix. My husband has had experience with Siberian Huskies and together we have had a Siberian Husky and an American Eskimo/Husky mix. Our dog sitting experience has included the following breeds: German Shepherd, Shiloh Shepherd, American Eskimo, Whippet, Cockapoo, Shiba Inu, Bernese Mountain Dog, English Bulldog, Alaskan Malamute, Pug, Doberman Pinscher, Miniature Schnauzer, Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless), Belgian Malinois, Corgi, Great Dane, Labrador Retriever, West Highland Terrier, Beagle, Jack Russell Terrier, Shih Tzu, Sheltie, Golden Retriever, Labradoodle, and many mixed breeds. We love 'em all! About our yard: We have a large, fully fenced backyard. It's primarily grass with a bamboo patch in one corner, some terracing in one area, a storage shed, and a covered area by the back door.
Reviews
The dogs are comfortable and happy when they stay with Ruth! She really understands them and let’s them settle in quickly. They love to go there!
Another wonderful stay - dogs love to arrive, knowing all the attention they'll get during their stay.
Ruth has watched my dog Wrigley a few times now- I can tell that he really likes spending time with her and her family. She always sends pictures of him and little updates- which is always appreciated.
Ruth takes great care of our pups! This particular visit she took on our dogs VERY last minute and I truly appreciate that!

Information Ruth F. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know about your dog's basic temperament/behavior, how they are with new people, energy level, how he/she handles on leash, and best discipline methods, if necessary. I have a list of questions to ask you so I can get to know your dog quickly. Sorry, no dogs that need house training.
A typical day
We are in a completely residential area, so there is lots of good walking right from our house, weather and my knee permitting. Your dog will sleep inside, either in our bedroom or in our kitchen/TV area, whichever is closer to what your pet is used to. We use portable AC units if it gets hot in the summer. We will have trips throughout the day to the backyard for playtime. I am almost always home, so your dog will get plenty of attention.
