Reliable, caring pet sitter

Pet care experience

I’ve been dog sitting, walking, hosting and visiting for over a decade, primarily with dogs 15lb-65lb, aged 6 months to 17 years old. We also own a cat, so I have a lot of experience and love for kitties. I've given both dogs and cats oral medicine as per family instructions, and of course fed and watered them, and given them love and doting attention. I’m only working on a few projects from home these days, so I am happy and flexibly set up to schedule pup and cat time! I do wear a mask in other people's homes during this pandemic.

Ruth is a pleasure to have and trust to take care of your pet. She was great at adapting to our dog’s needs, especially with anxiety meeting new people. Ruth has made this a truly excellent experience, thank you!

Ruth did an excellent job sitting for our dog. She got to our house early because the weather was getting bad, she even shoveled our deck to make it safe for our dog to walk. Ruth sent us several photos of her and our dog and gave us frequent check-ins. The best part is our dog was happy and relaxed when we returned home. Ruth made her feel safe and secure. We highly recommend Ruth!

WHAT TO EXPECT The day before I'm due to take care of your loved fur-fam, I'll text you just so you can put your mind at ease, and to make sure I know any updated details you want to share. You should never feel shy about contacting me ahead of time, either. I value your comfort and peace of mind. When I arrive at your home, I'll active a Rover Card, so you know I'm there and about to spend quality time with your loved pet. Unless you ask me to do otherwise, my policy is to start with physical needs (whether that be going for a walk, or getting food and drink and meds, etc). Obviously, I do this with love and paying attention to what your furfam needs--some want adoration upon first entry and some are shy and need to scope me out first. Either way, I talk and coo and let them know they're safe and loved. Once I take care of their physical needs, I either play with them or cuddle, and basically give undivided attention to them and their needs. I'll never leave early (unless you ask me to), and I'll let your furfam let me know their needs and boundaries. I've spent quality time with shy cats, anxious pups (of all ages), and frail, loving elderly furfam. Before leaving, I'll let you know how the visit went, all updates about your furfam's health and habits and interests during our time together, and of course, LOTS of photos. You'll get this in the Rover Card that I'll send to you upon leaving. I'm also happy to water plants if you're gone a while; just let me know which plants need what. I will always respect your space and your privacy, and the needs and dignity and fun of your sweet furfam. :)
